I understand we are not peaking in the eyes of many, but, why is it that all the brackets have us going to Spokane regardless of what bracket we are in. Say we catch fire and win the BXII. We get bumped to a 4 seed with some mojo going. OU gets to play in Oklahoma City, UNC gets Raleigh. Whether they are "host" schools or not they are getting basically playing in their backyard. BS rule if you ask me. We should be able to get Des Moines like other teams.

We're the host school for Des Moines, so we're disqualified from playing there.

I'm hoping we end up in Denver.

I agree, it's bs. But it's the rule. Should be if it's your arena. If it's 20 miles away, it def shouldn't count. Period.

They're not host schools

Why would we agree to host? Money? The rule needs to be changed if teams can still benefit with homecourt advantage by technicality.

Because once Des Moines hosts it once, they will be able to host it every four years or so (assuming the NCAA leaves impressed). Des Moines has tried twice in the past and been turned down, so ISU stepped up to make it happen. Consider it a long term investment, because in the future Drake can host.

However, I completely agree about the rule that the host school can not play at the site. I understand if it's in your home arena (Louisville hosting at the Yum! Center), but not if it's a neutral site. What advantage does ISU gain by hosting and playing in Des Moines that Iowa does not have?

Agree. Iowa needs to host next time.
I think at the time ISU stepped up to be host......the Hawks were giving away free hot dogs and pizza to anyone who would sit in Carver. That would be like the bearded lady hosting a cotillion.

Well one advantage is that Iowa St season ticket holders got first chance to buy tickets.

Looks like KU will be the only benefactor this year for DSM. Good JHok tourist dollars.

Hopefully Pollard has been in contact with the Big12 to have them host future years in Dec moines. They are hosting the OKC site this year so there is definitely precedence.

With the rarified air being a concern I guess maybe Spokane wont be a bad deal. I think we need to stay out of Denver and Spokane is a Friday game which gives us more rest. I still think it's BS with OU and UNC but given my druthers I would rather go to Spokane.
