stadium comments

With all the stadium upgrades, the new performance center, the plaza, etc. it really is a GREAT looking Jack Trice. Kudos to Pollard, and the many, many of us fans for continuing to financially support this program. And the progressive vision of the future. Love being there.

My question is, does anybody know if 'fan comments' are welcomed? And is an email to JP the only route to express those?
So many of those in our section last night, about 20 yd line in upper deck on northwest side, could hardly tolerate the extreme volume of the sound system. Not that any of us could barely converse without yelling, due to the loudness, but several of us did think the volume was louder than even the previous two home games. Yes, it was multiple people discussing this and we've sat that for many years.

And before the bashing begins, yes, we realize everything can't be perfect. Like I said, we love being there. Every venue/business/operation usually welcomes feedback. And we really don't know if it is heard differently in the lower section, let's say on the 50 yd line, or on the south end, etc. No, we are not elderly, nor wear hearing aids. We had friends there for their first game, and they couldn't believe how loud it was. There are such fun things put on the video board, including music, that it seems a shame that the extreme volume often took away from it. Or actually drowned out itself.
Anyone else have the same issue? Is it the same no matter where you sit? Trust me, we like things loud, too. But this seemed overly extreme last night. If it was toned down 'just a tad' , are other parts of the stadium effected?
I would hope that this simple fan question or comment doesn't have to be construed as being negative. Just wondering others' experience. By the way, I commend a few mothers I saw there with headphones on their baby or toddler's ears...smart.

I would bet you get an email back that says they haven't changed the volume in the stadium and the system is set to the same settings it always is.

It's loud but I guess I've gotten used to it. Another thing to consider is the stadium was full and when it's full there's a lot of ambient noise.

Are you saying that because its a way of just putting off the concern? Or you really believe that's the actual case? Just wondering. Again, we're used to it being loud and just go with the flow, but it has seemed extreme this year. Oh well. Its not like it it will keep us from enjoying our fun times at Jack Trice. Love the night games too.

The problem is that it’s loud for you but quiet for others. It’d be nice if they could figure out sound distribution through the stadium in a future upgrade.

Do you have an example of areas where it's 'quiet' for others? Good info to know.

My only complaint about the sound is that the intro song (for the video before it gets to Power) just sounds like music coming out of bad speakers. I don't know if it's because of the volume or what, but it sounds awful - at least from where I sit.

We had tickets near the NW corner for the UNI game and thought they were loud for that. The Iowa game we were the in the actual NW corner and thought they were quieter. Last night we were in the SW EZ and the speakers were louder then the Iowa game it seemed. Close but not as bad as the UNI game.

I’m in section Q and I completely agree with this. The speakers are loud throughout the game, which I’m fine with, but for whatever reason during that intro song it just seems completely blown out. Not quite as big of a buzz kill as Bells of Iowa State but it’s up there

Now that the stadium is mostly enclosed it’s more of a natural amphitheater so it could have gotten louder all on its own without the sound crew touching a dial. Any acoustic engineering grads want to chime in?

We’re in the SEZ and it’s always much too loud. I wear headphones to listen to John and Eric, and that keeps so much of the sound system noise almost muted. I couldn’t sit there for long without the headphones. Volume is deafening.
To be more specific: section 20, a few rows from the top. It seems like speakers are in the north screen area pointed directly toward the south with volume as high as it goes.

It was louder for the UNI game.

But yes, they need to spread more sound around the stadium. Oftentimes they have it cranked so high it sounds bad.
