If there’s anything in here to be disappointed about, for me it’s that Lipsey only shot 4 three pointers and missed them all.

yep, he worked hard on his shot for 4 months, then against not really good competition went 0-4. Disappointing, but that is kind of a small sample size. Hopefully over the next couple of months he can improve. We just need him to be a threat, otherwise everyone will do exactly what Pitt did, pack it in. If he can keep them honest, it will open up his dribble drive game to the hoop, which is was really good at until teams packed it in taking away that option.

There's a bit of an exaggeration by fans in how much a player can "develop a shot" in an offseason. It's not like the past 18 years of his life he had never tried a 3-pointer. There are limits for each player. He may or may not have hit that for himself. I hope he continues to improve, but it's not some forgone conclusion that people like to assume.

I think we can live with him being Jacy Holloway but with a lightning quick step to the basket and better rebounding for another year.

IMO, it's just a matter of confidence. Might never blossom into a huge threat out there, but once he starts to get comfortable with it, should shoot well enough to keep people honest.

My couch coach eyes tell me a quicker release would help. Just watching him warm up last year, it looked like he set up from the knees instead of belly or chest for the shot which is easier to guard. The actual shot itself looked OK and there was good touch there.

I'd like to think that if there are other players that can hit from deep or are better at getting to the rim, teams can't sag off of Lipsey the same way. It looked easy to sag off like that when everyone else was easy to cover up.

I think what people need to take away from last year is despite being no threat at all as a jump shooter and playing on a poor shooting team he got to the rim repeatedly against UConn and the best league in the country.

Teams sagged sooo far off him at the end of last year. If he can be consistent in the 15-17 foot range, i.e. free throw range, that will help a bunch, even if his 3-point percentage stays at or below 30%.

Not sure if anyone knows the answer, but did they run our basic offense the same as last year as far as post usage? Meaning more of a passer and screener. I keep thinking Robert should have more than 2 free throw attempts in 3 games, but maybe there was very little 'post entry'? Glad to see Ward had 9 attempts at least, although who knows how they came about?
