Now that Oklahoma and Texas are leaving keep the CFP to 4 teams it might have played a role in them leaving! Sec gets 1 team that would be a good thing!

Texas and Oklahoma won't sniff the playoffs going into the SEC. They are not built for the week in and week out beating the SEC teams take. Couple that with them being accustomed to having 80% of the power in conference decisions they are in for a rude awakening. Their fans are going to be pissed for quite a while as they run a .650 or so winning percentage in a good year.

When they expand to 12 or 16 playoff teams in a couple years, OU will be behind Bama Georgia and maybe LSU, but they'll still get in. UT MAYBE NOT.

Limit the SEC to no more than 3 spots in the 12 team playoff format.

Yeah. OU trading wins and conference championships for $$$. Does Texas even make a bowl game in the SEC?

They will have no problem beating up on Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Auburn, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State. There will be plenty of wins for them to be had. 8-4 in this SEC will probably be enough for them to sneak in the playoffs. Playoff selections factor SOS.

Actually a good idea. The SEC led the push to expand the playoffs, clearly they weren't negotiating in good faith. Keep the existing four team playoff until conference realignment is completed. The SEC will effectively be limited to two playoff teams at most.

When will that be? This is going to be with us for the next decade.

This was sprung on the college football world only a week ago...the rest of college football needs time to react to this major development before altering the playoffs. I'd say at least a one year moratorium before changing the playoff format from 4 teams to whatever number (8,12,16). The SEC was not dealing in good faith and the fact pattern was totally different before this conference realignment bombshell was dropped.

If the playoffs remains only four teams, then the "new SEC" power football teams (AL,OK,LSU,FL,GA,TX etc.) will have less of a chance to make the playoffs than they do now. This might give current SEC schools some "pause" as to how they vote about accepting OK/TX into the SEC.

Conspiracy theory would believe that these two issues are related. OU and UT would never have considered a move to SEC if CFP was staying at four. Now that the power brokers floated the 12 team idea and it was seemingly well received, gave OU and UT the path to move forward.

At the time, I thought 12 was an odd number. Why not 6 or 8 to start? Now maybe it makes sense. SEC wants 3-4 teams consistently in the new CFP.

Texas' ego knows no boundary man.....
They could get the call for the NFC South and think they would win there. They are completely delusional, I think even moreso than Iowa which is saying something.
