Not surprising. He wasn't popular since day 1. I think Charlie Strong isn't too far behind him. It isn't because he is a bad coach, UT big money has unrealistic expectations that Strong won't be able to accomplish immediately.

Nick Saban probably thought it was all over when he turned them down the first time. I feel sorry for that guy, they're going to put the full court press on him again.

Never feel sorry for a man who makes $7 million a year and has had several national championships.

I definitely feel sorry for him. According to him, he should have more national championships. And that's a terrible sadness!

$7 million a year was only enough for a toilet made of silver. He is truly living in poverty right now but Texas can change his luck!

I think this is a good thing for the Big 12, I was uncomfortable with this guy's ties to the Pac 12. Assume they will go internal or someone with Texas ties to get the donors happy again.

Not surprising but unusual timing. Charlie Strong can't be feeling great.

The UT alumni who work for me are thrilled. And maybe we can hire Charlie Strong in Ames
for next year?

If Texas should go after a new football coach again, hire Mark Dantonio, per his wiki, he was born in Texas, not sure if he would leave Michigan State or what is contract status is though but he seems like a coach that would be a perfect fit for Texas.

Doing better than 6-6 at Texas isn't unrealistic expectations. If he gets fired at the end of the year, it is probably going to be deserved. This years Texas team looks like they are going to struggle to get to that again.

Those are just details when put against UT money. His desire to stay at MSU or go to UT is really the only thing that comes into play imo.

If you read that Chip Brown article, this was no surprise.

Just even the way he wormed his way through getting out Rick Barnes showed how incompetent he was.
