How about this:

"Jamie do you plan on being here next year"
"President Leath, do you still have faith in JP"
"Was TJ ever considered for the job?"
"Jamie, if it wasn't for Leath, how much different would have this hiring process been".
"President Leath, are you the new spokesperson for ISU athletics?"

come on, man. This was Prohm's introductory presser. Not only would those kinds of questions have been given strict non-answers, but this was not the place for them in the first place.

Exactly. He wants to bring someone from his staff at Murray State, but that someone is probably a candidate for the head coaching position there. He's not going to discourage his guy from that step, and can't get in the way of their process.

There are ways things have to play out, and it takes a few days.

CW tweeted yesterday that he expects William Small to come from Murray State. I just say today that Jon Rothstein tweeted he's a candidate for the MS job.
Assuming this is the guy that Prohm is waiting on.

You'd be really good at asking questions that nobody would answer.

"Jamie, on a scale of 1-10, could you describe how upset you were the moment that Dr. Leath asked you to expand the search, and compare that level of upset to your current mental state?"

Good night. No professional asks those questions, unless the whole point is to put a spotlight on themselves pretending to be the tough interrogator.

Testifying
Every time I see Dr. Leath, I can't help envision a ball of cheese & crackers, with a glass of wine sitting in front of him.

I flew out of San Diego, had a layover in Dallas, before returning to Ames. The TCU women's basketball team were sitting in the terminal right across from my wife and I (both of us wearing ISU shirts). Then I noticed Dr. Leath and his wife got on the same plane, and she was wearing a fur coat. It just looked really odd.

Ask an intelligent question.

Regarding recruiting, I am sure he will be working on a staff, but may not be able to fill every slot until the Murray State situation clears up. I'm pretty sure he knows it is important to hit the ground running.

right. And he said something that made it sound like he wants to be respectful of the current Iowa state assistants.

Why no ultimatum? If they want to stay behind and apply for the Murray State job... good for them... I don't want them here. Why do we want who Murray ultimately does NOT take? Either they are 100% behind Prohm and ISU or he should find someone who is.

The assistants in question probably candidates for the head coaching job there.

Wow.

This is Iowa State sports. It's supposed to be fun.

Not a Congressional inquest under subpoena.

The questioning during the Watergate scandal was probably nicer than this.

Disregarding any of the staff speculation for this coming year, I'm curious about how the current staff is handled during these type of coaching transitions. The current assistants are all still under contract (right?), so were any of those coaches at the presser this morning? Or are they typically instructed to stay away from any media things until Prohm's staff is officially announced?

Probably lots of facebook/twitter/youtube desk time at work. :)

It sure seems that way. Where were Marty & Miller? They always talk a big game?

Serious question and have no idea. Has Marty been to an ISU press event since the "What's next? Suspensions for parking tickets?" question regarding BDJ incident before the Iowa game? Maybe that's why no one had questions for Pollard and Leath.

Coach wants to take care of his old assistants. If Murray State promotes from within, there will be fewer to bring with him. Just guessing, the more that stay there, the more that stay here. He acknowledged how unfair it is for the assistants to pay the price of the HC's success. He also acknowledged that it's a tough profession.

I don't know how it's handled but the current staff is very busy this week running Hoiberg day camp so they couldn't be there. My son is there and Fred and his entire staff were there yesterday. What was interesting was during introductions TJ ran out to take a call. An hour later the news was circulating that it was Prohm.

We stuck around for awhile at the end of the day to let traffic clear out of the Lied and a good chunk of the staff was sticking around all talking. I'm sure they are all just as uncertain about their future as we are.
