He was the definition of somebody who looked the part in that role.

I believe he was from Iowa.

The Rockford Files still holds up pretty well. I've made it a goal to watch the complete series. Pretty sure I've already accomplished that, but officially into season 4.
Yeah, Davenport IA. That was going to be my initial conversational item with him when we met. Asking him how long he was there and why his parents were there at the time. Had he ever been back, etc.

A couple years ago I started watching the Rockford Files on IMDB and I agree it hold up pretty well, especially the David Chase (the Sopranos) stuff. Margolin's Angel was always great. And as has been acknowledged, he was born to play that role. RIP.

I could see Angel Martin and Mike Leach having a great conversation!

I love the cars on The Rockford Files! In addition to his Firebird, I love see cars of the era, such as Nova's.

It was always strange to me to see James Luisi play an organized crime figure in season 2, then come back as Lt. Chapman for seasons 3-6.

Kind of like Harry Morgan playing a nutjob general in the season 3 opener of M*A*S*H before returning as Potter in season 4.
