36 seasons in 18 years. That really blows my mind. Can you imagine another 36 over the next 18 years? I will keep watching.
Survivor's got the Wheel of Fortune thing going for them. A dedicated fan base, a game that plays out differently every time, a host that's perfect for the job, and they throw in enough twists every now and then to make it interesting. I can't see it getting cancelled any time soon.

Jeff really is the glue in all of this. When he decides to step down is when the show is done. He's state how much he loves Survivor still and how great the crew works together. Wish Julie Chen was 1/10th the host he is.

I think Chen is perfect for Big Brother though. She does a nice job of not making it about her. Probst is fantastic and he is part of this game. So some of it being about him asking the right questions is perfect.

BTW I do think when he steps down as host they can get someone that could do a good job hosting it. Also, if the show ever got cancelled I think I would start on season one and watch them again. I forgot enough that it would still be interesting to watch how they used to play and see games moves that would never work today

My wife and I re-watched some of the earlier ones over the winter. I think things were way tougher physically back then, but the strategy in today's game is so much more complex and tough to decipher now that there are years of what to do and not do within the game.

After going all in on Big Brother Canada the past 3 months, I realized how much I'm just lukewarm on Chen. Arissa Cox (host of BBCan) was great and simply just seemed more excited/happy to be there.

My beef is probably equally annoyed BB production and audience influenced twists....yuck.

She is god awful. The only reason she is on any CBS show is due to the fact her husband is Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer of CBS Corporation.

I think she was terrible but has got better every season. I know why she is on it. That does not make her bad. I think she does ok. Not fantastic. Never had a problem with her on that show.

BTW I think if Probst quit. The list of people that would be solid hosts could be pulled from former players

1. Colby would be my first choice
2. Boston Rob could add some comedy value to the hosting gig.
3. Sandra Diaz Twine would put them on the spot in tribal council which would be fun.

Other non survivor players that could be decent hosts

1. Derrick Levasseur- Big Brother
2. The Miz from WWE. Actually he does a good job hosting other shows.

I was pulling for Dom but I'm fine with Wendall winning too. Probably 2 of the best competitors to play in recent memory.

Agree with a lot of other comments so far, Sea Bass was definitely butt hurt over being fooled by Dom. Dom called him out on it saying he had to fool him and he succeeded otherwise he could have been voted out that night so he put himself on the line by not playing his real idol. If you truly are a fan of the game you have to respect moves like that even if it "hurt your feelings." He can probably thank Angie for spilling the beans too, had they kept it quiet from Dom he may have been blindsided.

I think Dom played it right, the odds of winning are better if you make final 3, losing to Wendell in fire making give you no shot at winning and a 4th place finish.

Rob Cesternino would probably be a better host than Boston Rob, but Boston Rob would be great as well.

Ozzy Lusth or Malcom Freberg would make good host too probably. Parvarti Shallow is a possibility too, she used to host some Survivor after-show at one time I think. Probst is 56 and still seems to have a great hosting the show so I don't see him quitting anytime soon.

Didn't Probst can much less money early on for an ownership piece in the Survivor franchise? Either way, the dude has made some bank over the last 18 years.

She might be the best female player to ever play the game and is easy on the eyes too. I'm sure she's not everyone's cup of tea though, can be a little arrogant and a little snobby I guess but I respect her ability to play the game as she has won and finished runner up and 6th in 3 seasons. She is still only 35, wouldn't surprise me if at some point she is brought back for an all star season of she wanted to play again.

Yeah, we're just going to have to agree to disagree on that one. :)

Wendell playing his idol for Laurel at the 5-player tribal is what won it for him, I think. That speech about him seeing her and treating her as a sister was enough to tip the scale of Laurel's vote in his favor. It kinda seemed lame/symbolic at the time, but it ended up being a crucial decision and I don't think he would have won if he would have just pocketed that idol as a keepsake.

It was a good move and you may be right but Laurel wouldn't have been sitting in the final 3 if not for Dom. He gifted her that spot.

Aside from Dom and Wendell these were some of the dumbest players in the history of the game. Angela especially. She finally gets a little leverage and within minutes she spills the beans to Dom about what's happening. Absolutely witless.

Actually Angela had no chance to win so it was not a horrible move to shift the focus to Sebastian and keep her name off the ballot

Here is a long form interview with runner up Dominic. Like or dislike the guy, he does a great job at explaining his thoughts/perceptions from being out on the island. Pretty articulate and overall a fun listen.

You get a little more perspective on how production can construe things. For example, Chris asks Dom early on if he has an idol. Dom lies and says no. The show makes it seem like minutes later Dom decides to show Chris the fake idol to gain some trust when in actuality, Dom said it was the next day.
