For this quick of a fire, Tech might have had their eyes and money on one person to come in pretty quick.

Yeah, this move doesn't make any sense. This is the only thing that I could have made the move happen, if they have a guaranteed hire that they think is better than Wells.

I could be off here, but to the questions of why now after how they started this year, etc. One would think this is because they’re trying to give whoever is next ample time to right the ship and try and reposition the program before the next round of conference realignment, should it take place.

Not saying it’s right or wrong, but maybe they don’t want critics to analyze their performance of, what, the last decade and a half or so and point to that as to where the program is as a whole.

Football is obviously the biggest driver but they just lost Chris Beard, the only other thing they could hang their hat on as far as current success in points that are driving the realignment conversation.

I'll be surprised if a new staff is installed that doesn't involve Cumbie. I think it would be a mistake to let him go.

I kind of get it. With realignment there's so much pressure to be good over the next couple years. Thats especially true for Tech since they're constantly brought up as an attractive addition by opening up the Texas recruiting grounds. Apparently Tech doesn't think Wells was the guy to get that done.
