The one who is playing against ISU. He can complete about 75% of his pass attempts. We play 5-10 yards off the receivers, there will always be someone open short. We blitz less than any other Big-12 team and when we do blitz, we show it early and we still leave receivers open for short, quick passes. When we do not blitz, he can comfortably settle into the pocket and pick out the receiver he wants. Additionally the DL does not put up their hands when he passes, so there will be no tipped passes. The best reason is that they know how we will defend them. Our players will drop back into their zones into the same spots they were on the tape he watched, and he knows where the holes will be. In the end it will just be a quarterback and his receivers playing a good game of catch.

Jason Berryman could blitz. We made an example of him when he made another mistake. I can live with Mac's decision to ditch JB, it hurts, but it was the right thing to do.
I imagine that with Berryman and Robertson, this would be a decent defense with the chance to be really great.
I think you got something here; we blitz but when we do it seems predictable or unlucky. They are either picked up or read, or just hard luck that they don't work. Often the blitzers give it away by being over jumpy, and on "fake" blitzes it seems readable too.
Remember the Nebraska TD right before half? Jackson was corner blitzing and thats why Purify was wide open. It was either hard luck (unfortunate play call) or it was read.
Wide open? It was a perfect pass and a great catch with the defender in decent (not perfect) position. The blitz was from the other corner as Purify still had a corner on him.
Blitzes don't necessarily work because they are unpredictable, but by creating a mismatch in blocking and taking quick advantage of it.
I remember it being either a LB or a safety, cause I swore it was DJack on the same side blitzing.
I could be entirely wrong though.
Singleton was on the coverage and it was actually pretty good coverage. Sometimes you have to tip your hat to the competition, it was a great throw and a good catch. If the ball was anywhere else, it was incomplete. Jackson was just a bit too late.
Singleton was the defender on that play and had tight coverage. The pass was perfect, and Thomas got if off right before DJ hit him on a corner blitz.

I was thinking couple days ago that if JB and Matt were playing and James Smith and DeMarcus had a full injury prone season, our defense would be giving up 40-50 yards less a game and getting some real turnovers. Right now our linebackers have intercepted the ball as much as our backs (2 to 2).
If the defense was that much improved from 380 yards, the offense at 320 yards would by default due to abetter defense be getting 30-40 yards more because of possession time.
That would have evened up defense (380-40=340 yards) to offense (320yards + 30 yards = 350 yards). If that occurs, the record normally would be at least 7-5 or 8-4 looking at past five years.
