Really crazy how much better the entire offense seems now. Rocco has the chains off and is slinging it. Noel has become a solid WR after not doing anything the last 2 seasons and maybe is a good returner now too? All the RBs are playing better and seeing the field at a higher quality. TE's continue on the right pass. OL is slowly getting better at blocking although there was some rough spots today. Playcalling is better and guys seem to have clear types of usages that fit them better than before

Overall I'm stunned. I thought the Iowa, and then for sure Ohio games were a sign that CMC was heading the route of everyone who stays here too long. Instead we once again have a pulse. Props

Running game was great against TCU but that's only one game out of seven. If we could run the ball like that every game then we would probably be 6-1 right now.

I love that our passing game has improved since conference play started. Rocco definitely looks like a freshman out there a lot of the time, but he's fun to watch and I feel confident saying that we are in good hands with him for the next few years.

Defense got back on track today and played the way we expect them to. Cooper is leading the country in INTs. The team has 12 INTs total. I could get used to that.

Contreras was an excellent addition to this team and is a big reason why our special teams is actually decent this year.

Certainly looks like Campbell made exactly the right moves with the staff. Our execution on special teams and our play calling are currently better than at any point I can remember in Campbell's tenure, and after a (very) shaky start, I think that's also the case with the OL.

I think Rocco is playing better than a freshman. Mistakes are minimal and he is tossing it to the right spots. Others are stepping up too. The team is coming together, growing and is fun to watch the growth. I'll add that the play calling is awesome right now.

I know it’s been said a lot (and ridiculed) but when you take a step back and look at the two-deeps and who is playing majority of snaps….it’s jarring how young everyone is.

True Freshman, RS freshman, Sophmores.

They are growing up before our eyes and I cannot wait to see the growth continue.

Couldn't have said it better. I hoped we'd figure it out but there weren't a lot of signs of being capable of a big leap forward like this.

What this thread is really about:

Nope. Playing well now doesn't magically undo looking bad for the first portion of the season.

This statement by the OP was literally wrong:
I thought the Iowa, and then for sure Ohio games were a sign that CMC was heading the route of everyone who stays here too long.
They owned up to it. That’s the meaning of “eating crow”.

Checkout his interception numbers!! I don’t want to jinx him, but he is very good at ball security!

There's nothing to own up to. The trajectory was really bad, and now it's not, because as OP said in the thread title, the coaching turnaround has been dramatic. Circumstances changed, and lo and behold it led to people changing their opinions. Doesn't change what happened in the past.

I'm just not sure enough people realize how much goes into a football season with a young team.

Has anyone considered that if they cone out firing away with the offense to start the Iowa game, Iowa adjusts and then ISU has nothing if they're able to be around late?

I'm still not a fan of how disorganized ISU looks to start seasons or even games but expecting a group to just come out slinging is short sighted imo.

The coaches knew what they had and had to make choices on how to go about it.
