I did not realize until I looked at 247 that they had 18 recruits last year and 15 transfers. That is a lot of new players to acclimate. Wonder how the interim coach's comment that "we need to recruit better" is going over with the players.

Part of what makes the timing so bad. If they didn't have a guy in mind who was already free to be hired, did they really think someone was going to quit their current gig midseason?
Seeing how Nebraska views themselves, I would say yes, that is exactly what they thought. Probably figured Saban would already be in Lincoln by now.

I saw the "What's Buggin' Andy", and he stated it perfectly -- Nebraska has had their pick of coaches, they've given those coaches unbelievable resources and they've all turned out to be flops.

I think Gonzo posted something like those Nebraska fans would run Jesus himself out of town on a rail if he coached the Huskers to 8-4 seasons.

Sports fans are funny. I was hearing some talking head say that ASU fans would be happy with 8 win seasons after firing Herm. History shows differently. Everyone eventually wants more and fires the coach to try and get it. Nebraska is just more obvious. Although maybe they'd recognize that if someone came in and did reasonably well.

Wonder is Blaise Gunnerson would jump ship. I know we were top two.

Is he even worth it? He has one tackle this season on a terrible defensive team. I guess if the coaches think he has something they can work with, then yet. However, he kind of looks like a 3 star that might end up not worth it.

Was Gonzo referring to KKKirk?

Maybe the coaching and the S &C coaching is lacking. Or it’s karma, that is screwing with NU.

Well, the team only has 2 tackles. Maybe one is a lot over there.

And the press here fully bought into the success thing from Frost using 18 transfers. Dude couldn't even do it with 3-4 year players, let alone 18 new guys with a wholly replaced offensive coaching staff. Now, that was a selling job to the press and they bought it hook line and sinker.

Burn it to the ground and bring in a coach and staff with zero Nebraska history. Only way to eliminate the roots. There is no massive walk-on program like Coach Osborne had...the Nebby of old is dead and buried.

Way up there
If you fire a coach in 2022, you may as well assume you'll lose every recruit and player. You can't count on anyone being 100% to return. It's just the norm now, it's not always pretty but the players deserve that freedom. They are the ppl most impacted by these moves.
