I still think HB is a great player, and will have a long, successful NBA career. He'll make millions, but I'm not sure he'll live up to the hype from a couple years ago. If HB had become the greatest player ever, there would be tons of articles about Roy developing HB into such a great player.

I want to see the articles talking about HB REGRESSING under Roy. His game hasn't progressed. He is no more ready for the NBA than he was 2 years ago and his stock is going down. Roy isn't getting it done folks, and that makes me happy!!!

Honestly, I don't think anyone could have lived up to the hype. I think Barnes can still be a terrific player, but he'll always be a disappointment to many because he'll never live up to the hype. No one can. Hell, I'm not sure even Jordan could have satisfied people if he'd entered college/NBA with THAT level of hype.

Roy has actually done a pretty terrible job of producing effective NBA players during his time at UNC. Given the number of McD's all-american's he gets it's pretty surprising that the only guy from his tenure at UNC that exceeds "marginal starter" status is Lawson.

Doug and HB.

Yin and Yang.

Doug improves, HB regresses.

Is that what you want to say also, OP?

That articles doesn't bash Roy for HB regressing. That is actually the article I was reading when I wondered why no one mentions that.

I'd like to see that article that projects what Iowa State, UNI, and Creighton would like today had Barnes stayed home.

I assume GMAC doesn't take the Creighton offer, Doug goes to UNI. No Royce White or all the transfers in Ames.

Does GMAC start to turn things around with Barnes or does GMAC get fired at the end of last season?

It's amazing (to me) to think about how Barnes decision has affected those three teams (positive for ISU and Creighton, negative for UNI). Had you told me that the day he did the skype call, I never would've believed you.

If HB had gone to ISU, I'd assume DMac would have come too. Dad wanted to coach him all along, but just didn't want to put him in a situation where he started at ISU, then had a hard decision to make when GMAC gets fired. With HB and DMac here, I doubt GMAC would have been fired by now.

Hard to tell about Creighton. They'd have less talent on the floor, but more talent for a head coach. :)

UNI would be about the same as nothing would have changed for them.

You're kidding yourself and rewriting history if you think he's regressed. If you will recall when he was a freshman at the beginning of the season a lot of people were talking about how he seemed to be an entire bust. He advanced his game incredibly.

He still has to work on creating his own shot to make it in the NBA. But he is still a Sophomore in college after all. He hasn't shot through the roof like a typical 1 and done, but he still has some time to do that because nothing is forcing him into the NBA this year. He could spend 2 more years in college if he chooses. Even Jordan spent 3 years at UNC before he went pro. He's the same age as Ejim and Railey after all.
