I got a kick out of the article by Tait in KC saying that Oklahoma and Texas are looking out for KU because of BB. I mean, how charitable of Texas to take KU with them over a sport that Texas cares nothing about. That's delusional.

Pac-12 is a horrible basketball conference. IMO that move would hurt KU more than help them. If KU thinks they can compete in football in the Pac-12 they are crazy.

Re: Texas talking to ACC?...

They need to rename the big thread as the official realignment thread.

Texas and OU have created a situation for the other 7 schools that leaving is not as good an option as staying if they can stay together, after posting at least a dozen times in this thread and reading the other 7,069, I am convinced OU decided to make a power play with Texas and demand some concessions on the Network deal, Texas said no and OU is following through with their threat, seems Texas still holds the cards and OU's best option is still to stay but only if Texas meets the demands, A&M made their Play Texas said no and now they appear to be gone except nothing has been announced on where they are going?? OU fills up the airwaves with we're headed West and Texas still is saying nothing, Texas can still save this but only by showing some serious humility...if OU and Texas want to stay together, it makes sense for that to be in the Big 12.

This is the most drama I have ever seen. They need to figure this thing out fast, as I bet a lot of the smaller schools are about ready to jump ship at the first offer.

I am really, really, really hoping that this is what is going on. But over the weekend I've gone from having no concerns and being excited about what teams might be added to being terrified that we're going to end up in the MWC.

Lets just say, the forgotten five stick together somehow. How would that work to collect the "exit fee" from the other schools that leave if the other school's leaving blows up our TV deal, leaving no money left to withhold from the school's that are leaving?

I really think the Big 12 should stick together if only to try to collect the money from other universities, then the remaining schools can vote to dissolve the conference. There can be no doubt ISU could potentially suffer great economic harm here.

I don't know if the 5 would be enough (and I think Mizzou, at the very least will get an invite somewhere, so it is likely a moot point), but their would be the TV money from this coming year to be withheld.

We are royally screwed out of any money what-so-ever if Texas and OU leave.

Oklahoma has gone too far down that road to come back now, in my opinion. If they do, their fans will yell about the PAC12 all year long just like a&m's fans did. The political pressure will be too much and, eventually, the administration will give in and we will be right back here next year wondering about what conference we will be in.

I remember reading somewhere in this thread that the a&m coaches and AD didn't want to go to the sec. In the end, they flirted with it last year and the fans held on to that. Oklahoma will be the same this year.

Well, if Chip Brown is indeed right, ISU could be in the Big Ten under this scenario:

Pac 16 takes OU and OSU

ACC takes Texas, Rutgers, UConn and Syracuse

That leaves the Big Ten to finish off the Big East by snatching Pitt and forcing ND to join, leaving 2 spots open.

Fans are totally irrelevant in this. A&M isn't leaving because of "Political pressure" and neither would Oklahoma.

Also, they haven't "Gone too far". All that's happened officially is a couple remarks from Oklahoma reps.

I think the question is why now if not before, while everyone agreed to the Network deal, no one knew it would be so big for Texas, A&M couldn't handle it and appears to be leaving, they announce but don't have a concurrent announcement from the SEC, the SEC says sure we're taking you but if the big 12 explodes in the process, we only want to make once announcement so wait till we see if Texas is coming with you, or OU and maybe Mizzou and if it does explode then we can't get sued if Texas and OU go somewhere else. Meanwhile, Texas says hey, ya'll agreed to this what the problem? OU Says sure we agreed to it with A&M in the conference and no one else wants to join so either change the Network deal or we're gone, meanwhile if Missouri was choice 14 for the SEC, they would have locked it up and been done. Pac 12 travel seems to be a deal killer, I look for the remaining members texcept Texas to do something to appease OU like give them a share of their revenue to make them equal to Texas and go through this again next year.

Thank God Pollard is so quiet, cagey and smart. Otherwise I'd begin to wonder if we are screwed!

K-State isn't going to go to the Big East before us, especially without Kansas. K-State is only in a better position than us to the Big East if they are a package deal with Kansas.

What if we offer to join the Big 10 with Kansas, KState, and Missouri and give the exit fee from the other 5 programs to the Big 10 as a welcome gift. Enough?
