We don't add any t.v. sets. The only thing that matters is football. If we are indeed as good of fit for the Big 10 as you claim we are, we would have been in the Big 10 years ago. They don't want us, and I don't blame them.
Maybe it is time to win ball games instead of sititng in the pasture whining.

I see the BigXII hooking up with ND, but not by ND jumping to the BigXII but by a merger between the BigXII and the Big East. THAT'S the shocker the Texas Tech AD was referring to. It will take time to make its self clear, but it will happen.

Problem is, espn and fox want 4 super conferences, not 5. So, I don't see this playing out unless it is only a temporary step until the good tv teams get raided out of one or both of those conferences to form the 4. Espn and fox own the checkbooks, so in this day and age you can be pretty sure who is calling the shots.

Actually, ESPN is vehemently opposed to 4 super conferences. That's why they created the LHN.

As if JP is sitting naked in a bean bag chair eating Cheetos? How are you guys so sure that Jame isn't doing everything he can to ensure a light fluffy landing somewhere?
At least we finished up our Italian Job for bball. JP can now start revving up the Clone plane. Flight tracker anyone?

I think people Miss what this is about. It really isn't so much about winning and tradition, although those help. It is about tv viewers. That is why ku and ksu are in only a slightly better place than we are. We could have went to bowls the last 15 years and it wouldn't make U's more desirable in this realignment because a) we don't bring a lot of tv viewers and b) we aren't tied to another school that would bring a lot of tv viewers.

No, I think they created LHN to do exactly what it has done. Create a climate to destabilize the bigXII to help bring about super conferences and in the process own Texas for wherever they may end up in that realignment.

No, actually, you're the one with the selective memory here. After those heading to the Pac 10 (minus A&M) decided it was in everyone's best interest to make the Big 12 work, there was full commitment going forward. Except for A&M - they began prostituting itself to the SEC and was dragged kicking and screaming back onto the Big 12. After the Big 12 Missile Crisis ended, the only school not committed to making it work was A&M. A year later, guess which is the only school making moves to leave?

And if you're referring to "unity" within the conference last year as things were heating up, what are you smoking? Missouri and Nebraska were fighting over one open spot on the B1G, Texas, A&M, TT, OU, and OSU were on their way to the Pac 10 while Baylor and Colorado were fighting over the remaining available spot, and Kansas, K-State, and.ISU were left wondering what was going to happen to them. that is COMPLETELY different from this year where only A&M has actively sought to leave conference while the remaining 9 members have been VOCALLY UNITED.

You're giving the powers-that-be far too much credit in the integrity and honesty department. They would all sell their mother if it generated a few million bucks in new revenue. What else are the "vocally united nine" going to say? Be smarter than that, poncho.

They wanted to keep Texas from joining another league.

If there are 4 Super conferences, the thought is that they could create their own networks, which cover a large area, and take money away from ESPN as they would no longer need ESPN for their main sources of distribution.

ESPN does not want 4 16 team super conferences.

Just an FYI:

Texas A&M: No Letter Sent to Big 12 Chairman

Tuesday August 30, 2011 - UPDATE:

Texas A&M spokesperson Jason Cook is confirming Tuesday morning that Texas A&M University President R. Bowen Loftin did not send a letter to Big 12 Chairman Brady Deaton.

News 3 reported a New York Times article Monday night that stated Loftin contacted Deaton to inform him that Texas A&M would formally withdraw from the conference -- most likely Tuesday.

The Times article quoted two "college officials with direct knowledge of the decision."

Texas A&M officials say the Time article is "totally inaccurate."

It will happen but has not yet.

And I would make aTm pay the FULL penalties. No negotiations on lowering the price.

A&M better pray that the FOX TV deal that the Big XII just signed doesn't get voided by their actions. How much could the Big XII sue A&M for over the loss of a tv deal with an estimated value of over 1 BILLION dollars to Big XII members? The Aggies are butt hurt enough as it is but imagine the position they could be in if the Big XII sends them to the wolves in the SEC as a mediocre football program that is completely broke.... Ouch.

If the super conference thing goes down with 4 18 or 20 team leagues, we will be in the Big 10.

I said this earlier in this epic thread too. People who disagree with you simply can't do the math/geography correctly.

Each of the 4 base leagues needs to add 6-8 teams, some teams with facilities much worse than ISU's would be getting invites. If there's some impetus to hit 18 or 20 the Big Ten would be very fortunate to end up with ISU. It's not like the SEC, ACC and Pac Ten are just going to give the Big Ten first pick out of 24-32 available teams.

Let's say the Big Ten got it's wet dream, Notre Dame, and 2-3 awesome schools in brand new markets before the SEC/ACC/P12 can get them. They still need to fill out spots. They're going to want the large enrollment school with good facilities located exactly in the middle of 3-4 of their existing schools.

With 16 it would depend on the order of expansion. If the SEC and ACC were to beat them to the punch it would still be pretty likely. With 18 or 20 anything but traditional B10 grouping doesn't makes sense.
