I am just trying to wrap my brain around the whole thing.

So,

PAC 10 -> KU, MU, OSU, OU
ACC -> UT
SEC -> A&M

that leaves ISU, KSU, TT, Baylor

ACC would need #14 - I think candidates would be ND, UConn, Pitt, Syracuse
SEC would need #14 - I think candidates would be WVU, L'ville, VA Tech

Big East might lose 2 teams so be down to 7/15 (or 8/15 if ND). I think they would take all of Big 12 leftovers to get to 11/19 and add one more (ECU?).

Scenario #3456

when this all goes down, if we by some chance get left out of the superconference mix, we should extract our FB program from the NCAA, create a pay-for-play club FB team, and invite others that have been left out to join us. We'll steal quality players with a paycheck and create a true minor league to the NFL that networks couldn't pass on...no jimlad necessary...

Only the federal govt can really take the money back out of all of this. If it would wield its power and take a look at the nonprofit situation of programs (or it could go even deeper and demand changes to athletics as conditions for federal funding), there could be a chance.

Dont see it happening though. Too much potential backlash from the fans of the 'haves'

To me it seems like that the BCS conferences have more power than the NCAA, and if that is the case what is the point of having the NCAA? To hand out punishments or tell teams that their wins don't count when they get caught cheating?

All punishments consisting of only a slap on the wrist or sacrificial firing of a head coach. And all win rescinding happening no less than one year from said win.

Since this whole thing is a game of what if, here's one for you...

Texas goes to ACC to create a superconference. They need to bring some teams with them.

So would you rather go to new ACC with Texas or to the Big East?? I think we would be more competitive in Big East but I would imagine the dollars would be better in Texas+ACC mega-conference. But is that money enough to deal with the Texas drama??

Thinking about it, will there be enough votes in the PAC for expansion? What do they need? A majority? 75%? Unanimous?

If the conference is split E\W i could see Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and Arizona State being unhappy with this change, as theyd see less California exposure being on the other side of the superconference, and if its north\south you're breaking up the original PAC-8.

I believe the vote must be unanimous.

If so, i could definitely see ASU\UA voting it down. Theyve been in the PAC for 30 years and could be relegated to a division away from the 10 other members theyve been playing against for that time

Pac 12 schools game up all expansion power to Larry Scott last year, they have no say.

They gave him the authority to negotiate, but im betting they still have to vote to approve whatever was negotiated.

But that only means that less students are getting opportunities to go to college, so it's no big deal. This is big-time college sports, man!

Somehow, it's become all about the money instead of that whole "providing opportunities" thing. I've given up on the illusion that these sports are building character. That argument probably didn't really hold up before, but it's really a sham now.
Might as well pay the athletes? It is now a business.:realmad:

Just out of curiosity is there anything that the NCAA can do? I mean if they see that super conference will have a negative impact on student athletes, can they step in and destroy the system that created the super conferences in the first place?

The NCAA couldn't do anything. It would have to come down via congress, likely by changing how athletic departments are viewed for tax purposes.

So. If this ACC business is true what about this:

PAC16:OU/OSU/KU/KSU
ACC: UT/TT
SEC:MU/aTm
BE: ISU/BU/TBD

PAC: 16
ACC:14
SEC: 14
BE: 12/20
B1G:12

I could see TT getting nixed by ACC schools so maybe some renegotiating there (Baylor to avoid a lawsuit?) Regardless, that gives everyone homes.
Can we go to ACC? We recruit Florida.

Re: Texas talking to ACC?...

Is it really that hard to keep the conference re-alignment stuff to one thread? Maybe the thread where that link was posted several hours ago...
