Not exactly sure.
GG as the new commish?

Could do a lot worse. Old big 8 guys would enjoy.

In that Texas letter...

They want to keep LHN as is.....not workin

They want tcu in there to feel like old SWAC.... I am kinda against TCU now

They ran off all the big 8 partners of ours (letter talks about not having the okies).

I like saving the big XII but want to be 12 teams. At most 14.

So if the Big 12 stays together again, wont that be us spitting in the pac's eye again? Granted, it isn't hurting the PAC but still kind of funny.

Source: Removal of Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe among OU's demands | NewsOK.com

This is a must read for people following this...it clarifies why OU would leave and it doesn't have anything to do with money. As suspected, this is basically because of Beebe's relationships with other schools and the LHN.

"No one wants to give up on it,” an OSU source said of the Big 12. The problems have “nothing to do with finances. It has nothing to do with success. For the league to be falling apart, it's crazy.”

I posted this about a million posts ago in this thread, but here it is again...

I'm no fan of Beebe either, but it's not often you find a conference/league commissioner that people like/respect or don't frequently poke fun at and/or think that person doesn't have a clue.

Notably in college athletics. Conference commissioners or whatever you want to call them are more like cat herders than anything else.

That said, it doesn't mean Beebe hasn't made mistakes. It also doesn't mean I wouldn't fully support Beebe being the sacrificial lamb that saves the Big 12 conference.

Because I'd totally be fine with that. The success and longevity of the many is greater than that of the few.

The WORST thing that ever happened to the Big 12 was moving Big 12 offices to Dallas. One of my demands would be the offices move to a non-Texas location.

RebecaCy is starting to look like a genius. :)

If we add BE teams do we move them to StL and play football championship in Dallas and basketball in KC? I could get behind that. Or even if Bball had to move to StL we could probably deal with that.

Edit: Could Chicago work as a alternate site for Bball and Football Championships? Heavily B1G but might help northern schools with recruiting.

Obviously, I have no problem with the conference staying together but this realignment crap better stop happening every summer. It's not good for anyone in the conference and the more times it happens the more damaged the leagues reputation will be.

I was with you until I read the Oklahoman article. While everything in it probably isn't 100% accurate/true, if the schools don't think Beebe is acting in the best interest of the conference (and the article makes it clear some don't), he should be fired.

If it stays together this time, there had better be long term signed agreements with huge penalties for violation.
