I just noticed their numbers on the belt buckles. Someone put some thought into this.

Yep, and the heights of each player pretty much match the heights of the guys in the movie. Very nicely done.

Actually, I'm going to amend even that statement. "Caucasian" comes from the Caucasus mountains, which is in Georgia/Russia, east of Greece. You all white, brah.

Spanish DNA, man (Hispanic). And I take no offense whatsoever for you calling me all white.:biglaugh:

Actually you're pretty right on the money. The Spanish DNA is listed as "Iberian Peninsula". That area had been overran and conquered and settled by so many different tribes of people that we can't really yet say what kind of DNA it specifically is. So maybe I'm just a mutt.

Like the quote from the movie Stripes: "We're all very different people. We're not Watusi. We're not Spartans. We're Americans, with a capital 'A', huh? You know what that means? Do ya? That means that our forefathers were kicked out of every decent country in the world. We are the wretched refuse. We're the underdog. We're mutts!"

OK, I'm faaaaar from a racial expert, but to me, I kind of see 3 main racial profiles, Caucasian (white), African (black), and Asian-ish (used to be called mongoloid before that was offensive), with 'secondary' mixes off of those. I still consider Spain to be Caucasian, despite it being a mish-mash, because it's still mostly a mish-mash of european stuff...

Even the Spaniards were not exactly homogeneous. The Iberian Peninsula was a melting pot of many peoples: the mysterious “Iberians,” Phoenicians, Greeks, Celts, Romans, the Teutonic Goths, the Moors and the Jews.

The phoenicians and greeks are headed over there toward the middle east, and the Jews are I suppose technically almost asian, but then again, also kind of separate just because of their genetic isolation (they kept within their gene pool decently well compared to others).

I guess I'm separating "latino" from "hispanic" and I'd say Mexican or Latino has some Asian influence due to the 'indigenous' which came across from the pacific islanders (the almond shaped eyes, etc.), whereas the Iberians are a mish-mash of various European flavors.

I mean, really, it all is just talk, since everything is a mix, you can't put completely into groups, just explaining where I think Hispanic is a cultural reference, not a genetic one, that'd be more Latino (central/south american with the indigenous/euro influence and thus kind of genetically asian) vs. Spanish (a mix of European influences)

Well if Beach and BWR can find some more people maybe they can do a class action suit for being Irish offended. Depending on what percentage is needed, I would consider going along for the ride.

there are youngsters not 'getting' the humor of these famous 80's movies by John Hughes.

They actually think "16 Candles" includes blatant offensive racial stereotypes (Long Duck Dong character) and 'date-rape' at the end of movie-- with 9th grader Michael Anthony Hall.

Good gawd these snowflakes are a joke

As a white guy, I'm offended by this comment.

Yep, it gets pretty deep and I'm no expert on it myself. Genealogy is one of my hobbies so I had my DNA test through Ancestry.com and did some studying on genetics and DNA. Now we find that most non-Africans have Neanderthal DNA so we really are a bunch of mutts.

Visigoths and Ostrogoths did so damage during the Roman times, you can pretty much assume anything east of Syria is 'white'.

Wow! Simply WOW! Our forefathers have got to be shaking their heads in disbelief. How wimpy we've become. Especially in the vein of 'humor'. Is this an indictment of 'comedy'? Because, if so, 99% of all comedians would be out of a job.

I've maintained the longstanding belief that 'we' (ie ALL humans) are categorical by nature. 'Everything' fits into a category. That's a far cry from being 'racist'. The bigger problem is we continue to draw lines in the sand. Meaning, as long as people cry foul, our children will continue to 'separate' the two sides. So, in my opinion, the people 'crying' about this and/or the people 'validating' this ARE the problem. That's not to say we should be insensitive to real issues. It's just that THIS is not an issue.

I first saw this on Google. The publicist was "The Des Moines Register". My first thought was, OMG; don't they have any 'newsworthy' stuff to report on? My answer: it's the Des Moines Register. To which I, simply, chuckled.

Are Hawkeye fans going to comment on it saying CBS sports is racist and insensitive?
