I still don't see how you think they replace the pass rush production of Will McDonald and MJ Anderson? Like I said, right now Joey Peterson would be starting in McDonalds spot, and you think our pass rush would be fine?

MJ was not MJ before entering our system. We will have guys that will do great

Onyedim has 1 sack in 14 career games. J.R. Singleton has not recorded a sack in his career. You're touting their pass rush abilities on what exactly?

I love both those guys, they're great players, but we need pass rushers to play alongside them.
Where did you see me “touting their pass rush abilities”? I said no such thing, not even remotely. What I said is that we have (much) more experience returning than you and others claim.

You have a fundamental misapprehension of Jon Heacock’s defense and how he uses his players.

Singleton and Onyedim’s role is to set the edge at the strong side end the majority of the downs. Other players come in on pass rush situations. As Joey Petersen did last year. And when those two set the edge, it allows the players behind them to do other, more aggressive things—such as rush the passer.

If they can collapse the pocket when in there, so much the better.

Both McDonald and Anderson got almost all of their reps from the opposite side—apart from when one floated to the other side to confuse the offense.

Joey Petersen and Ezeogu—who could be a longer version of McDonald—will now be the ones rushing from the opposite side. Tommy Hamann has a chance as well—and Adam adds maturity and experience to the room at that position.

Should they sign Jalloh, I suspect he’d be a candidate to be a pass rush specialist on those aforementioned passing downs. Guess we’ll see.

I think Onyedim has played strong side DE, but I’ve never seen Singleton I don’t believe.

Like I said, we need pass rushers because we don't return anyone proven.

Here's what I know:

Coach Rasheed and Heacock know what they're doing and have earned my trust. They came to this program not expecting to adopt a three-man front. Then we redefined defense in the Big 12 and college football nationwide. I was worried when we lost Ray Lima. JD Waggoner. Uwazurike. JaQuan. Yet season after season our defense has delivered. If Rasheed wants Jalloh, so do I.

It’s tough to get sacks when you’re rushing 3 against 5!
