The only thing we do that I don't like is the guards pull the got shot from the stands head whip when they get touched. Too much KU film. It can work so I get it.

Coaches often treat officials as though they are not human. TJ treats them like real people, and trust me they appreciate it. He keeps it real.
I thought you reffed HS for a while are you still doing it. I apologize if I have you confused with another poster

This could not be more true. Those guys/gals don't get paid much, often times have 2 jobs, have to travel, take all the **** in the world from both fans and coaches, and get literally no appreciation for what they do. It's like being a teacher.

That's why I give them some grace for missing things. It's easy to have a perspective from the stands or on TV, it's a whole different thing to be at the same height as the players, having people in front of where a foul may have happened, or get too quick to blow a whistle on what you assume will be a foul. A truly thankless job.

TJ treating them like the humans they are goes a LONG ways over the years as you often get the same refs over and over again.

It would be really cool if the Big 12 refs could anonymously rank the Big 12 coaches on their bench decorum. I'd love to see that ranking.
I would love to see a coach pull a Norman Dale and quietly say to a ref, "I really like you and don't want to yell at you or call you names, but I need a T. Give me the T so I don't have to yell at you."
