What is the deal? I thought he was actually good and brought some interesting, substantitve info. So folks seem to be wiggin' out

Yeah, some stuff was said that was actually interesting here and there. I think the point people are trying to make is this: at what point do you go from simply making mistakes regarding what you're talking about (on national television) to being plain old too lazy to just get it f***ing right the first time? It's not rocket science. It's about knowing who you are PAID to talk about when at a single game between only TWO teams. At some point, you gotta stop sounding like an amateur broadcaster and get a simple university name correct.

Tubberville is not great, but he does have some coaching experience, and makes some comments that are interesting. I don't think he is rooting against ISU, just forgetful at times. If you want to hear bad, just listen to the Iowa radio guys. You can routinely listen to them call the FB game for 5 minutes and have no clue what the score is, where the ball is, or who the other team is.

Dolph is even worse at calling BB. Really makes you appreciate Walters. He really shines at calling a BB game.

I don't know if he has it in for ISU or not, but his commentary is annoying because he treats the game as if he is a coach critiquing the play calling. Most of his comments are negative because of that. You can tell his bias against certain alignments and play calls, because he complains about them even when they are working.

I’d take The Chiz over Tubs any day as a color guy.

He was probably pulling for Memphis so that his 1-3 record against them while coaching the bobcats ....er bearcats didn't look so bad. The only win was in year one with the previous staff's players. The average deficit was over 16 point. Clearly Heacock should have called him for advice.

I wish there was a way to shut off the announcers but keep the crowd noise. IMO 90% of the color people are not that good. If they know as much about the game as they say they do why are they not high paid coaches instead of blowhards on air.
Do you have surround sound with a center channel speaker? A lot of sports broadcasts put the announcers audio only through the center channel and the crowd noise through all the other speakers. So if you disconnect the wires from the back of the center channel you only hear crowd noise. I discovered this by accident once. Not sure if all broadcasts are like that though.

This x1,000. They’re utterly useless.

Podalak & Dolphin are A BLAST to listen to when the haks are losing though. :D

I agree with all of you. We should of had better announcers. To bad Kirk wasn't available, I'm sure you all would of loved the "Oh-io perspective.

He gone.

Tommy is just living in opposite world. He told us 6'3" Ray Lima was only 5'10" repeatedly during WVa game. Now David Montgomery (5'11", 219) is bigger than Joel Lanning (6'2", 230). So Lima is smaller than Lanning is smaller than Montgomery in Tommy world.

Instead of playing De'Monte Ruth, we got a tackle from the band Rush.

Cyclones, Hawkeyes, he clearly doesn't give a ****. He's gotten it wrong every game. It's just his job. Glad he doesn't do anything important.

I watched all those games and know tubby screwed up allot. Kirk would of not messed up those type things. Just not sure ISU fans could stand listening to Kirk for an entire game.

When I was younger, I figured commentators were there for their knowledge, especially coaches.
As a more cynical older person, I understand now that there's a real reason that they have the talking job instead of the coaching job.

On the whole I find former players make better announcers than former coaches. About the only coach turned announcer I enjoy is Fran.

Tuberville let a "Hawkeyes" reference slip once during Liberty Bowl, but Mike Patrick may have topped him with his "Illinois State" gaffe. How often has Patrick actually called a game involving Illinois State, enough to confuse the two ISU's?

Yeah Tuberville hasnt been good normal horrible self today, although he's still been bad. Mike Patrick has been a disaster.

Both Flubberville and Patrick made about every blunder you can as 'professional' announcers in today's game. If that was the last game either one does I will not be surprised.

ESPN announced Mike Patrick is done calling games for the network. His last game was the Liberty Bowl. Getting old sucks.
