Thought he'd follow the coach going to MS St
I originally thought that too then I wondered if Miss St had enough NIL to compete. They landed Blake Shapen from Baylor this week

Gotta say, kinda shocked by that one.
The easy choice might have been to follow Lebby to MSU. But between UCF & OU, Lebby has been his OC for 3 years.

Probably smart to expose himself to a different system for his 6th year. Somewhat of a risk, but the $ were probably right and Bo Nix's transformation probably didn't hurt.

I'm guessing as a Hawaiian following in Marcus Mariota's footsteps was a pretty big deal as well.

Bo Williams drove that Cadillac around Ames, partied at Ag Business Socials, had that one 50 yard run and then disappeared into the night like a ship in the fog. Iowa State legend.
When they asked Chiz about that run he basically said I could of drove a truck through that hole.

Any rumors on incoming transfers? ISU has hit on some good ones the last few years!

Oregon is poised to be a top 4 team in the B1G next year. Could find themselves in the playoff if the right things happen. Can’t blame Gabriel for heading there.

This one is a bit of a shocker to me! It seemed as though his performance has diminished a bit from his first 2 years. Wondering if he is not enough of what Clantin wants & if this means that Clanton has someone who is more in his mold for OLbfrom the portal that he has in the fold?
I’m not sure what the “shock” is. He’s used his five years here, and is taking a shot at actually playing his super senior year someone else.

We’ve seen guys do this before where their time here was done.

(Yes, there are guys CMC will take the COVID year from. Darien Porter is one. We’ll see what course the rest take)

People who haven’t been to Texas don’t realize how big Texas is. Years ago I took a road trip down to San Antonio to cover a D-III football game. Driving down I-35, through Kansas City, through Wichita, through Oklahoma City … the Oklahoma/Texas border was still only about halfway to San Antonio.

(Okay, I’m exaggerating a little - but it is just about exactly halfway between KC and San Antonio)
And West to East is worse, as El Paso is closer to San Diego than it is to Houston!

Similar system. Not 100% but similar . Get the ball out quick. And more play makers and a higher ceiling in terms of Oregon having a path to the playoff while at Miss State you have a path to 6-7 wins. Nothing wrong with that but if you want to try to win a natty... Oregon makes sense.

And if you have a dream of trying to make an NFL roster - it also gives you an opportunity to show off in a similar but different system what you can do.

I woulda thought Miss State or maybe Louisville but when Schuck went Louisville that was out

I'm somewhat indifferent on Gabriel going to Oregon.

I will say though when I think about the broader fanbase of college football and why so many are "tired of the portal stuff". This is a good example, this is Dillon Gabriel's THIRD school.

I would be all for having a one time max rule on transferring. When you think of "is this good for college football players", think of the Oregon QB's in their system who are now in the process of transferring.

Des Moines to Dallas is +/- the same distance as El Paso to Dallas

Oregon has a young 4 star QB that we were recruiting. He will probably hit the portal now, if he hasn't already.
