I don't know much about the Edge but the Edge Sport looks pretty bad ***. I bet even with AWD it sucks in the snow with those 22"s which kind of defeats the purpose of an SUV.

Guess I'll find out this winter. Mine is a AWD with 18"s but I can't see how it would be any different than a Subaru.

I'm sure you'll be fine with 18's. These 22's even if they are all season are probably pretty wide, which is not an advantage in snow. Plus they look to be low profile.

If you plan on doing your own oil changes or any service do not get the Traverse, Acadia, Buick version, or anything else with a new GM 3.6 liter in it. The oil filter is right next to the front cat and is an absolute ***** to get to. Other than that they are nice cars. I work at a dealer and they don't come in for anything but regular service much (of course the oldest one out there is only 3 years old i think). If your gonna have a dealer do all that work then don't worry about it, I'll burn myself for you.

Honda Pilot, resale will be worth the price. And its a really nice ride.

This. My parents love their Pilot. They got a killer deal on a 2009 EX-L, brand new back in late fall of 2008. He paid $31,500 about 4 grand off sticker.

It now has 68,000 miles on it, and they keep calling him to trade it in. They just offered him $25k for it.

It's solid as a rock, and they updated it for 2012. Better materials inside, and a cleaner grill.

I would have bought one of those if I could have found one but those are pretty tough to find. I saw one on the road up in Michigan about a week after I got mine and they look amazing.

We have a 2011 Traverse, and love it. Were looking at the same vehicles as you - ultimately went with the Traverse for the third row; Pilot has that little jump seat thing, and didn't like that. But was also really impressed w/ the Pilot.

Maybe I'm wrong but I think the Acadia and Traverse are pretty much the same vehicle? So you'll be basing your decision more on options, looks, etc than drive train, ride, etc. I know a couple of people who own Acadia's and I've ridden in them. Nice vehicles.

Maybe the 4 runner has changed a lot in the recent years but it's always been more of an SUV than a crossover. I think the Highlander actually compares better with the Acadia and Traverse. I would throw in the Honda Pilot into this group as well. Our friends have a Honda Pilot that we've been tailgating with for the last 7 years. It just broke 100K miles and the interior looks like it has 10K miles and has never had one problem.

They are, and so is the Buick Enclave. You will pay more for an Acadia than a Traverse, but you'll pay even more for an Enclave.

Based on the mpg, cost of tires, and insurance costs... I couldn't justify getting one of these or any other SUV like them. I just need something that will carry a family of 6 for the next 4-5 years. I ended up settling on a Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. Same mileage, tires cost less, more room, and the insurance is cheaper. Not to mention no one has to climb over each other to get into the back. It drives like a car. It'll serve its purpose.

Will be getting a nice 4-door sedan when all is said and done. Think I'll stay away from mid to full size SUV's altogether. They are just not worth the price or the cost.

They don't make them any more, but see if you can find a Saturn Outlook. They're just like the Traverse/Acadia, but can be found for a lot less. We bought one earlier this year and love it!
