Which I think Tandy.....cough.....his dad......cough.....think he should be playing right away. Some of the articles I read seems like hes a helicopter dad. Not gonna lie I really wanted/want Tandy though.

Excellent point. It would take a heck of a ball player to bump out Wiggi and a healthy NWB. Sitting on the bench and learning getting better in practice but then getting convinced by outside influences that you need to be playing and transferring after their freshman yr because of lack of patience, way better to have someone here who wants to be and understands the long term.

What? Tandy is high school 2019 so wouldn't even get to ISU until fall 2019 when NWB and Wigs are probably both gone.

He would be competing with Nixon, Haliburton, and Horton-Tucker for formal point guard time, and THT along with Lewis, Griffin, and Leech at the SG/wing.

That is not a situation where you can point to guys he would have clearly been behind. Then again, it seems over now. Jackson is going to be our guy.

THT is not a PG.

“Obviously”?

Either that or Tandy knew that Prohm was heading in a different direction. Guess which I think is more likely?

Possibly, but I'd really doubt that Prohm would pass on Tandy if given the opportunity. He's rated WAY higher.

Now it very well could be the case that Prohm wanted an answer soon and didn't want to risk waiting around for Tandy to decide, that's VERY possible. It just seemed like Tandy was cooling on us a bit, and then all of the sudden we get a commitment from Tre. I just don't think that was unrelated, that's all.

Glad to have Tre though. I think his shot is a lot better than Tandy, which is big for me.

I don’t really care which is rated higher. Tandy is a better athlete, but from what I could see, might have a Lindell-like adjustment to being a pure point.

Tre, on there other hand, is an even better, amazingly pure shooter (my impression) who also isn’t necessarily a true point guard.

My estimation of Tyrese’s future probably just went up.

The Jackson/Tandy situation is exactly like Wright/Wigginton if LW wasn't interested. Hopefully, Jackson turns out to be the same kind of find.

I don't see it that way. The staff prioritized the chance of Wigginton over taking a likely commitment of Wright before LW decided. Wigginton was far less of a sure thing than Tandy who was predicted by many experts to be an cyclone. If the staff would have taken Wright that would have been the 2018 PB for the class bumping Wigginton spot.

The exact parallel IMO is Tyrese Halliburton and Tyler Harris. Both Harris and Tandy were predicted to choose ISU from early in the summer but delayed there decisions. The staff evaluated under the radar recruits in Tyrese and Tre late in the summer, offered in august and took their commitments at the end of September right as the High major interest was taking hold. Resulting in taking the PG scholarship from the previous favorites for that class.

We have to see both Tre and Tyrese in Hilton to see if the staff is correct in their evaluation. Early reports on Haliburton have been quite positive and I don't think many fans are regretting taking his commitment over Harris at this point. I like Tre's game/attitude and trust Prohm with his evaluation of PG's so I am bullish on his prospects. I would be elated if Jackson ends up like Wright at Colorado, though I doubt he'll get a starting opportunity his freshman year.

I like that he catches the ball ready to shoot. I also think that, if he bulks up, he has the potential to grow into a Frank Mason type guard. It looks like he does a lot of things well and can finish through contact.

Finally got some time to watch some video on Tre. The link is for his senior highlights. TJ has the classic 3 and D skills that I can see Prohm wanting to add to round out the guard roster. The first section of the video show him taking charges and being physical with the ball handlers. While he doesn't look to have elite athleticism/speed he seems to know his place is aware of where the ball is and going. Strong outside shooter who doesn't shy from contact to finish at the rim. Totally makes since that Mike Cronin and Frank Martin were showing interest in bringing him in to their program.

I think Prohm envisions in Tre developing into a NWB type player role moving forward, who like him was a 3 star who had a lot of good skills but none elite and is strong. I do think Tre outside shot is more developed than Nicks at the same age though.

I thought Tre was from Blythwood South Carolina. That says Chattanooga TN. And how could it be his senior tape when he’s yet to start his senior year? I think you have the wrong Tre Jackson.
