I. I'm torn. But my first reaction is I disagree with Troy. I have to give this one some thought. We don't retire jerseys at ISU, do we?

I don't think of football as retiring numbers. So many positions and players and only so many numbers. I think of basketball as much more of a retired number sport.

We dont retire Numbers, we retire jerseys. Basically, the way I understand it, the number can be used again, we can retire a jersey, as in to honor it, but the number will still be in rotation. Never been done in football, has been petitioned before for several players including Trice.
Believe this is the way it is done for Basketball.

Kind of sad Troy is so bent out of shape about this. Plus, what's with the background in that post? Weird.

Troy shouldn't handle it like this, but he's right. No reason that jersey should ever be worn by anyone ever again at Iowa State.
I really have mixed feelings about it. The number hasn't been worn in 20 years, and I always assumed it was retired. Why has nobody wore 28 since Darren? I guess I always hoped the number would not be used until the next wave of Davis running backs came to ISU.
