this is just an observation but it seems like there has been a crap ton of truck commercials by ford, chevy, toyota and nissan. It seems like an unusual amount this year. Not sure why all the truck companies are advertising like crazy right now. Anyone else notice this?

I think the US truck manufacturers are responding to the Toyota Tundra marketing that shows how good a truck they are making right here in the US. They are afraid and in a reaction mode.

Gas prices can't be helping truck sales right now. I haven't looked at the numbers but common sense would say that less are being sold (but there are a lot of Americans with more money than sense, I guess).

I cannot believe all the people that buy trucks. Most of them get used to help buddies move and that is about it.

My problem is I love my truck! I love sitting up high, and the room you have in a truck. Yes, the gas mileage sucks ! That being said , I believe I will be trading or selling my truck for something that gets better gas mileage.

But those of us in cars, hate those trucks because we cannot see anything.

I know that is why I am going to have a hard time going back to a car. My problem is I have a 16 year old son, and I am going to be forced to get him his own car, so he I won't have to pay an arm and a leg for insurance. Don't worry, it is going to be an old car.

I just got my first truck (mid size Dodge Dakota) and I will never go back to a car again. The gas milage isn't too far off from my old Mustang but it way more convinient, especially since I do alot of work around the house. Not to mention how nice it isto load up for tailgating!

I've been driving for 18 years and have never owned a truck. I'm thinking of buying a small 2wd truck as a 3rd vehicle.

I agree, there does seem to be a ton of them. Moreover, they seem to be getting more ridiculous all the time. Especially the new Tundra ads where they have a weight hanging off the side of a cliff or the enormous teeter-totter with the Tundra pulling a trailer. I thoroughly enjoy that hyperbole runs rampant in ad campaigns.
