Just passed Xavier. About 3 weeks away from catching Providence for #56. I'm not sure how many polls there are left this year, one or two?

Assuming next year's team can continue this run I think top 50 is attainable. There are several old school powers in front of us that won't be picking up points (San Francisco, Bradley, Wichita State).

Testifying
I didn't know some of those schools ever existed like WV Tech.

Looks like we could move up to low 40s fast and then it becomes lots of teams that still often get ranked.

Would be cool if they could turn this data into one of those motion graphs on youtube.

Fun. If i calculated correctly. Duke has the highest average ranking. Points divided by Ballots, then inverted.

Set it since 2010 and we blow them away.
Since 2000, we are 6 spots ahead of them coming in at 34th. Since 2010 when they hired Fran we come in at 24th and Iowa at 41st. We have 40 appearances since TJ was hired, good for 21st. Basically doubling up Iowa in the same time frame. Interesting to look at this stuff.

It’s funny seeing Iowa so much higher than us, but they haven’t been good since the 80s it seems. They’ve had some ranked teams here and there but damn.
That's crazy. They haven't even made the Sweet 16 this century yet they're so far ahead of us all time. It's hilarious that Iowa is so worthless now.

Ehhh, it kinda does matter to an extent. The ones who have been there the most seem to have the most success. National titles, final fours, etc.
Yes, but it's all rear view mirror. Has absolutely nothing to do with the present, so that's why I consider it to be meaningless. Just my opinion.

Kind of a downer take. I post about it because I think it's fun, especially when Iowa State is climbing. Not everything has to be "important" to talk about.
Guilty as charged, it is indeed a downer take. I just get so tired of past success being used to justify current rankings. That's why preseason rankings are so ridiculous.
