Ooh goody. This is usually a good thread! Bring it on, those of you who braved the Mecca of college football to watch the game.

I agree with this but when we have a team that's looks capable of winning in Kinnick it's easier for more to decide to go.

On TV it really looked that way. To me it was a metaphor for the transition of the Iowa/Iowa State fans in the state

John Walters was ahead of the crappy Big Ten Network. Couldn't tell from the crowd noise on radio what happened until announcers said. Iowa crowd seemed quiet from the radio anyway.

I was impressed with Iowa fans today - a lot more courteous than I expected.

I was in the press box covering the game for the DI. There was definitely more of a mix between Iowa and ISU fans today, and the place got decently loud for ISU's big plays.

Overall, it was a terrible game to watch outside of the fourth quarter. Just not a whole lot happened. The fourth was nuts though, in that it was such a rollercoaster. I've never seen a quarter so up and down on the emotional scale, when no points were scored by either team.

From section 135 behind our band, a group of "house divided" fans were discussing the merits of following each team. A hawk nearby chirped in that there would have to be something wrong with a person to cheer for the Cyclones, and that he'd "rather be dead than be a Clown fan." From about 5 rows up, an old-timer ISU fan turns around and says, "One fewer Iowa fan! That's progress!" He got a pretty good laugh out of both sides...

I had an old man grab my shirt and try and partially choke me for having my hands in the air. He was asked nicely to restrain himself and moved a few seats over for a better view. He did no like cyclones cheering on defense in his section.

I was in the ISU section. Had some typical Iowa stereotypes come true.

1. A girl and guy behind us were both cheering for the hawks. One went to UNI and one was a student at ISU (very disappointed).

2. 3 Hawk fans next to me left halfway through the third.

As far as conversations, on the hawkeye express train on the way back some ***** said there is no such thing as a real ISU fan, that it's still a hawkeye state, and that Josh Lenz should of went to Iowa. I just kept my mouth shut because I didn't want to get into. I let the results speak for themselves.

There was a hok fan behind me who was dismayed at the fact that we kept punting it out of bounds and the refs were not calling it.

Their God-like coach didn't offer Josh Lenz. Chizik did. Of course, I would have really liked to see ISU offer Van Sloten and Alvis.

I just got back. I had a great time. For the most part the Iowa fans seemed less rabid, I think that reflects the real attitude and confidence in their team this year. The only thing that was of note, was a few random "relics" in the crowd. I don't know what the deal is with the older folk that are Iowa fans, maybe they can't handle their liquor? He yelled down like 3 rows at me to take off my jersey.....awkward. I just smiled politely and waved - but wanted to go up there and grab him by the med-alert necklace and pummel his glass eye.

Gotta give props to the rest of the section, pretty smart fans had a good time.
