Well it was disappointing but UNI just flat out outplayed us tonight. Still like going up there to watch a game great facility. Thanks for the hook up on the seats @CycloneRulzzz.

On the plus side got to see my niece and her new baby.

Negatives the loss and a little bit skittish driving on the way back, not sure if it was slick of just a combination of light car and high winds. It got better W of 35.

Oh well on to the next game.

I also made it home safe. Started to head out this afternoon with my mom driving but flurries started and we came home.

I'm not a distance driver, but said I could do it. Still glad I went. Win lose or draw I support my Clones plus the chance to have a chat with my good friend (who did the play by play tonight) when I'm in a tough spot in my life was worth it.

This team will learn from this. Remember it was first hostile environment for all the new faces.

What happened to the women tonight is my #1 fear for the men when they go to Iowa City. Run into a hornets nest and a hot shooting team that wants to knock off a top 10 opponent. I think the men are a different beast than our women's team, so I don't think it will happen, but it's my fear.
Our Bigs have the talent for sure. But it took awhile for Big Rob Energy, Tre King and Hason Ward to play together defensively as TJ expected them to play.
I imagine our bigs this year will need time to learn to play as a team like Coach Otz wants them to play. So, yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if Iowa plays out of their minds when they face us. But we'll see.

Gee...winning around 800 ball games while averaging around 24 wins a season over 30 years will do that for you.
All those wins, yet only one "shared" conference title in 29+ years at ISU and zero Final Four appearances. He wins, but he doesn't win when it matters, and hasn't for 25 years. All those wins yet his credentials don't qualify him for the Women's College Basketball Hall of Fame. His program has become a revolving door of transfers as he grows increasingly desperate - what's his graduation rate (from ISU) going to be for his recruiting classes beginning 2019 (MEM & Gabby McBride)? It's not pretty, yet many ISU fans will make excuses for him all day long.

LOL. This is the dumbest thing I've read in this thread and that's saying something. Used to?

Iowa doesn’t have to play “out of their minds” to beat us. They are really good, look like they are having fun, and play a fun style.

No one wants to hear it, but I wish we would take some things from them offensively. The way they run the court, especially their secondary fast break, really gets the game moving and crowd excited. Plus gets them some easy buckets. Hopefully this is a bit of an eye opener for us

Yeah, I’m guessing the OP didn’t mean it that way. By all means those players are great reps to the university. I think the frustration lies, warranted or not, in that we can’t get over the hump.

I often wondered if we had “ too many” good players this year. I know, can’t complain about that, right? But bill has always generally managed around a couple. Makes it easier. This year, he really has to manage the minutes of a larger pool. Time will tell. Much to early to panic. But the schedule gets pretty unforgiving the next couple of weeks. Hopefully this will harden the team for a conference run.

Thank you, I didn't - I watch Cyclone WBB for the players, several of whom I know. I can't stand when people take two or three words out of context and run with it - time for another self-imposed vacation from CF

I'm sure TJ and JP are gonna love coach's comments about "that's why the men don't play them." That was a BS comment. Bet it will be a fun day in the Athletics Dept and there will be a whole lot of backpeddling.

I have watched Iowa a few times because i was curious on how losing 3-4 of the best players they have had and will probably ever have would do this year.

Their post players have quick and athletic post moves.
players move the ball very well, which is what we are lacking.

I hate dogging on our own team, but look at our team runup and down the court, we look like the old mans league I used to play in.

The Red Flags for me (even before this game) was
quickness
conditioning
lack of vertical presence
very soft with the ball
not great at swinging the ball around or post entry

1-2 of these things are fixable and a couple are not.
The way BF has countered this historically is with perimeter shooting.

Back on the horse I guess. Be a goldfish from last night but recognize they got work to do...

Lol, the men are about to face some of the best teams in the county in Maui while the women can’t beat UNI on a road trip and hour and a half from home.

Iowa is better than us. The one saving grace is O Grady starting. If Audi had to match up with Stuckey it would be game over very quickly

When expectations are sky high, very rarely do teams exceed those expectations. Look at how many teams in sports are favored to win it all or ranked #1 and don't win it all. It's a long season and very rarely is it always going up. On to the next.

I saw one team that was inspired and looked very athletic, and another that was rattled, didn’t make adjustments and looked a step slow.

ISU will have some big games this year, but they’ll likely be unranked when they drop a few more here soon and will be in that 18-25 range all year.

The “UNI was motivated” thing is overplayed. ISU looked horrible on defense.

That was some baaaaaaaaaddddd basketball. UNI didn't just beat us, they dominated in nearly every single facet of the game.

You are delusional aren’t you…or just hateful. I’d respond to your ridiculous comments, but it’s not worth the time. I will say your words aren’t taken out of context…you very specifically use those words to make a point about the coach. If you don’t mean it don’t use them.

Iowa women don't lose games like this. Take care of business if you want people to give a ****

I said this exact thing to my wife late in the game. Iowa handles Drake and UNI every year. Iowa hasn't lost to either team since the 2019/2020 season. Iowa State has 3 losses in that very same window...

Coaches don’t shoot the shots Or play defense.

I don't think you can argue that BF's offensive game plan/sets are good though. Our offense is so stagnant and our guards just dribble around. JFC just run some simple motion and you would get quality looks. That's 100% square on Bill.
