#5 is always the "joke" part of the list where a tradition laden team usually makes it after a boneheaded week.

Michigan was #5 after losing to Appalachain State and they went on to win the Capital One Bowl that year.

It amazes me that people get upset about this list every week/year. He doesn't look at numbers, close losses, conferences, etc. He just sits down and looks at standings and says, these teams suck. There's nothing scientific or analyitcal too it. Obviously we're not the 7th worst team in FBS.
