Im going to the Elton John concert next week and was wondering if anyone knows of some good parking spots so I can get back out on the road quickly after the show? The last time I was there for the Paul McCartney concert, we parked on the top level of a parking ramp and waited for an hour to get out. Thanks for the help!

Park in one of the lots just across the street (over by the Barn). I've never had trouble get out of those, but that parking ramp takes for freaking ever to get out of.

It's just a little longer walk, but have parked on the street just west of the west parking garage. Speeeedy.

I was going to be a smartass first and post something like, "Ankeny" and then post what you stated, bugs4cy. Your suggestion is the best.

Why the rush to get out? School night? Park down by Court Avenue - two ramps and surface lots to choose from (and then you can do some post concert partying- or at least grab a drink and let the traffic funnel out before you have to leave). There's also a ramp just off of Grand Ave (about half way between Court Ave and Wells Fargo.

I personally never mess with the ramps for events at WF. If you go south of the arena (or west as some suggested, you can always find street or surface lot parking. There is street parking on the bridges that go over the Des Moines river that rarely, if ever fill up.

Unless you have issues with walking, there is really no advantage to parking too close to the arena IMO>

Good luck finding quick parking near Wells Fargo. If they had close parking you wouldnt get the chance to enjoy and spend money at all the stores that close at 5 in the skywalk.

If you're coming from the east on 235, I'd get off over on E 6th, or Penn Ave, and and follow Capitalcityguy's advice and park down by Court Ave.

If you try and get off on the 2nd/3rd street exit, you'll spend more time on the ramps and 3rd street, than you will at the show.

That last few times I was at WFA, I parked on the street facing North, so when you get back to your car you can just drive straight to the 235 on ramp.

It would be a great service to the city if they would tear that eye sore known as Vet's down so there would be parking downtown.

Nah, let's drop a ******** of money to renovate it! ******* brilliant idea there. :skeptical:

Your right! Everybody's 3rd or 4th cousin wrestled at state there. Can't tear down those memories. Besides where would they have boat shows at? Wait, I thought that's why they built Hy-Vee hall.
