Whelp, looks like we're digging in. This is all legal posturing to make OU and UT pay. It's not going until 2025.
That was a statement to give a statement. Nothing more.
This sounds a lot like a "keep calm" response with a big heaping spoonful of legal CYA in there as well in case its needed.
They're angling to soak OU and UT if they want out now, while most likely negotiating for a good landing spot whenever that deal is done.
I like the idea that we’ve got our paws into another conference already but are able to sit out quietly and make OU and Texas pay up.

Keep in mind the formal timeline here before jumping off the cliff…OU/TX have not applied for membership to another conference yet. All the Big 12 Presidents/AD’s have been turning the screws on them. Would have rather not heard from JP or WW now…but may have been necessary.
