I enjoyed the part where Grier would never throw the ball away and instead get sacked outside of the pocket. That was fun

Yeah, I don't know what he was thinking other than those ISU guys are really slow, I have time.... I was guessing he gave up 50 yards in sacks if you count the safety as a sack, which I feel you should.

I agree, although on that safety, if it hadn't been for the hold, it sure looked to me like he would have been tackled behind the goal line anyway. Having said that, I mean he was under some serious duress. But everybody who's pointed it out is correct, once you're outside that tackle box you can throw the ball down field (i.e., out of play). For such a great quarterback, I don't understand why he didn't do it, though I am grateful.

Well guys this game just proves the point that when a QB gets enough pressure Panic will set in and reason goes out the window....Will Grier felt tremendous pressure all game long and it rendered him helpless.....Our defense only gave up one touchdown in 60 minutes....Tremendous....Outstanding.......use any adjective you feel like using.....

We have wins over WVU and OSU. They have a win over Tennessee. We should get some votes. We are the best 3 loss team in the country.

I know the expression, "If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, oh what a Christmas we'd have."

BUT, IF Brock had been ready from week 1, our record would be different. I think we would have beaten TCU and Iowa.

Oh well, that game was freaking awesome to watch!!!!!!!!

Near the end of the game, we went for it on 4th and 6, at mid field. Guess we were thinking didn't want to risk a blocked punt. And, we MADE it. One of those kinda nites.

What was up with that?

I don't know, but he played bad. The other play that killed me was that no one on West Virginia's team had it together enough to call a time out before the delay of game at the end. That's what led to the safety.

I think that play was called 'Z set, step on throat twist, David's back, and go **** yourselves'.

When did ISU get good enuf that we can absorb a INT, missed EXtra point, missed FG, blocked FG returned for a TD, countless penalties, and still WIN?!

This was the MOST impressive thing about last night IMO. There were numerous times throughout the game where me and the fans around me would say "crap, here we go, this is where we fall apart".

But it never happened. Especially after the blocked FG for the TD. That gave WV a ton of momentum. A 10 point swing on that play. Instead of being 23-7, it was suddenly 20-14. We were all thinking that was the point in the game where WV would turn the tide on us. The WV players were all fired up.

But ISU never folded. That is probably the biggest difference (also depth) between CMC's teams and Rhoads' teams. Rhoads' teams would get a lead, and then at the first sign of trouble would fold.

One possibility is that he might be more into preserving his personal stats in the Heisman race than doing what's best for the team. Taking a yardage loss with a sack gets overlooked more than lowering his completion percentage or throwing one up for grabs and getting picked off.

The only reason I can think of, for Grier to continually hold the ball like that, is that normally his all-star group of receivers eventually get open providing WVU the long ball hit we see on highlights all the time. Problem was he ran into a group of DBs that never quit on the play.
