with 2 scholarships remaining and one hopefully being negedu, isu is obviously going after a post player for that fiinal scholarship. with other targets like beas haamgas and now bergen committing to other schools, we need a true center and it would be nice if they had some weight on them but here are some names of people we are recruiting, tyler zellar, corbin moore, L.A Pomlee, josh crittle, ian morkolf (7 footer) and jeremy robinson. I think it would be nice to get Ian because he is 7 foot and hopefully a true center but very thin on weight at 213 lbs. If not him it would be nice to get Zellar who is being recruited by north carolina, kansas, and indiana and others. I just think id be cool to have a 7 footer down there with Brackins. I wish i had some information on which prospects mcdermott is going after the hardest so if you know anything you should post it and which ones we have the best chance of landing.

I like the list of teams recruiting Corbin Moore. It looks to me like he could be a Vroman type guy. He is even Vroman his Sophmore year ugly.

Don't hold your breath on Negedu. He's visiting Arizona in the next couple of weeks. I think Arizona is the one to beat. Moore sounds like he wants to be close to home..i.e. on the west coast.

Is this just your gut feeling or is there more to it? Do you have a source on Negedu? Seems to me you are confident in your infomation about our chances to get him.

what do you think our chances are, percentage wise?

I have no doubt that he likes ISU, and ISU may be in his top three, in fact, I think we are.

However, just because we are top three, doesn't mean it's close with the other two. That is just MY gut.

With Arizona after him, he likely sees a program that has a very high profile, a coach that wins a ton of games, a program that always makes the post-season, etc. Right now, you can't say the same for ISU.

I would be thrilled with getting Negedu and am thrilled we are so high on his list. But my gut tells me he is Arizona's to lose. Others I know that know more say the same.

Some say the chances of getting him are less than 10%. I would say we are more like 25%. Being with Brackins this year helps, and our staff seems to be in his ear quite a bit.

Jeremy may be right that ISU is the leader, but there is so much time for him to decide, and I think he will ultimately go to Zona.

Crittle and Markoff are certainly reasonable possibilities. Corbin Moore plays for the Pump brothers AAU team and the staff certainly has an "in" there as you all probably already know so you never know what might happen with him.

I have heard Arizona considers Negedu a "project". At ISU he would be considered the prize of the recruiting class and expected to start as a freshman.

He's visiting Arizona here in the next couple of weeks, and the Arizona Rivals site has an article on him that came out today.

Arizona was the first school to go after him after he got to the states two years ago.

I don't hear to often about 5 star players being projects but who knows.

As far as us not being able to compete with Zona, I see your point. But we also have to look at Brackins who we got that got a lot of good offers. We have gotten players in the past that have had better offers on their plate than what has been an average Arizona team these past couple years. (I know what a lot of you will say. "Top 25 is not average!" But for Zona anything but top 10 consistently seems to be average for them.)

I heard from a guy (and this is completely a rumor) that we were not going to get Negedu b/c he is asking for money. Just what I have heard. And the guy that told me this used to recruit Negedu at a different school. Once again don't jump down my back for saying this b/c this is just what I was told. I guess Negedu's mentor from whatever country he is from is like his father figure and wants some cash. I hope this is not true and more than likely is not

I bet that if the money thing were true, GMAC would have pulled our offer. I doubt AZ would be involved either Lute doesn't have that rep.

Concerning the "project" comment. I read that in an Arizona paper article. The media, or at least that writer, termed him as a "project". Seems crazy to me too, but we aren't used to getting MacD type players every year.

One thing we have going for us that Arizona might not is that hopefully our coach will be there for Negedu's entire stay. Not saying that Lute won't, but he is already 72 (although he could probably pass for 55) and Negedu wouldn't be there for another year and a half. Not saying that it would matter to Negedu, but it does to some. He may coach well into his late 70s, but I envision Lute retiring before then.

If this is true (which I doubt but you never know), I would hope that someone would blow the whistle on him...why do the schools always have to take the fall? Make an example of a player or two and it may happen less...

I have heard similar things about Negedu. That's why he probably won't end up a Clone. I'm not sure who is calling the shots behind the scenes but I don't think he will be making his own decision.

If we beat Nebraska and Kansas this week, the wins may help our cause. Winning is important for recruits as they want to go to the NCAA tournament.

Do you know what I love about the intelligence of a couple people on this board (key in on the word couple)? I stated earlier back that I heard something and that it was totally hear say and I hoped it was not true. Than I get a couple negatvie rep points b/c I accused a player of NCAA violations!! I did no such thing and tried to make it extremely clear that it was just someone who told me this. And the guy who told me this was the 3rd assistant down for another school that he coached at last year. Does this make my statements true? No. Did I say so these were facts or that I believed them? No. I am not into throwing 17 year olds under the bus just b/c of some rumor I heard.

Thanks to most of you who replied to it in a reasonable and intelligent manner. You took it for how I put it
