I had another beer and thought about this some more. I like certain personal fouls. Don't get me wrong, I hate the dirty plays, and that is not what ISU is about. But a personal foul can get the defense pissed off and they end up playing a little harder. Plus later on in the game a receiver might think twice before going all out for a catch, a quarterback might slide instead of trying to get that extra yard, etc... The personal foul has both negative and positive effects on the game. Kicking a true freshman off the team for personal fouls is like saying "we want you to play aggressive, but don't play too aggressive." He just needs to be coached on when to lay off and when to lay it on, that comes with time.
