I know its likely not going to happen, but if we win the next 2 and get to 2-2 are we really that far from where we though this team would be? 2-2 through the first 4 is what a lot of people predicted.

If we can get to 2-2 I think the mood completely changes around here and post season play while still unlikely is a possibility....

I'll pass the kool-aid

I think people are more upset with the performance they have seen than the win-loss record. If the offense decides to show it can score points people will become more optimistic. If it continues to struggle even with 2 wins over 2 not very good teams the mood will remain somewhat unchanged.

Sure. And the mood would really change if we went 10-2. But at this point I'd welcome 1-2 and then worry about game 4. If the offense looks better next week then I think things will settle down some. On the other hand, I don't believe a win without many offensive points will help this board much.

I would hate to start 0-3 because at that point your for sure locking in a really bad year. However, if that that third loss was with us putting up 35+ points it'd make me feel a tad better (I'd still hate Messingham)

I am pretty sure everyone who picked 2-2 to start the season imagined us winning the other two games and losing the next two.. Granted, having seen both Texas and Tulsa's performances up to this point in time anything is possible. Our defense changed drastically from Game 1 to Game 2. Now if we could get our offense on the same page. I'd like to pinpoint our struggles there on the play calling just like everyone else, but I have to be realistic with what we saw last Saturday. A lot of players are simply not executing their jobs on Offense.

How do you coach that problem at this point in the season? Some fanatics say we should take the Mike Leach route and chew them out. Others say that style of leadership is ineffective.

All I know is that the coaches need to get on the same page and straighten things out because I am thinking the team chemistry is going to take a dive if players continue getting on each other/the refs every game. (JG, Jacques, Deon, SR - QB): To me these players should be leaders right now, but it looks like they are trying to takeover every job when they have a lack of control over their units. Not to mention, each of their performances could use some refining right now.

If we win 2-2 it will help the public perspective somewhat but I think what ultimately needs to happen is for the level of play on offense to improve greatly. Unless if we start putting up 35+ points per game consistently a majority of people will still want Mess out.

Winning games? Let's start with getting a first down. Then we can MAYBE talk about scoring TD's. Only then can we really begin to even consider winning a whole damn game.

I would be more than pleased if we were to win the next 2 games. But, I agree with above posters, let's concentrate on stringing together some first downs.

My guess: Things get testier as we wonder why these two and not the first two, and wonder how magical the season could have been.

Whether that's logical or not is up to everyone to decide. The well is somewhat poisoned for this season right now, so everything will be viewed through the lens of those first two defeats.

CF would melt down if isu wins the next two, especially if the offense clicks.....Mess will be getting a new contract and CPR will be praised for growing up 15 min from Ames.
