Shows up seemingly right on July 1st. Wants to congregate in the part of my yard that gets the most direct sunlight. Seems to be able to find any small opening in the yard where the grass isn’t fully grown in.

We have yard service and they just lid down step 2 which I believe is weed control. Takes about 3 rounds of weed killer to actually kill.

Plant ID on my smertfaune sez it is Euphorbia serpens kunth or Ye Goode Olde Matted Sandmat. (promises that that is 69% accurate)

Could also be Euphorbia prostrata Aiton or Green Creeping Spurge (12% accurate).

It's spurge. Can be tough to kill once it's established and hard to hand pull because it's a taproot plant. You can pull the above ground part but it will regenerate from the root. Multiple applications of a broadleaf killer are your best bet. Because it's a prostrate plant it tends to grow in areas where the lawn is thin and there's less competition.

My guess is prostrate spurge. The leaves are rounder and don’t have the purple dot on the leaves like spotted spurge. Dicamba or 24D will kill it and not kill the grass. The spotted spurge in my yard takes 2 applications about 10 days apart. It always grows on the edge of my yard along the gravel drive. It drives me nuts.

"I'd beat it like your meat."

"Look at the bright side - it is easy to pull out."

It likes to pop up in my rock beds but haven't noticed it in the lawn. Round Up kills pretty well, would think it you spot sprayed it with something that has a little kick to it like 24D it would knock it out without damaging your lawn.

It’s definitely not creeping Charlie imo. It has more of an abrupt pattern rather than the reniform or cunate look of creeping Charlie. The leaves have like a succulent look and feel.
Oh damn sorry - it looks like the clover crap that has the yellow buds on it that crawls across the grass and you need to pull it out like rope through the lawn. Excuse mt while I go hang myself.
