This guy I have been a fan of since living in Brazil for three years. He was already fairly old when I was there but still popular. His songs will be remembered forever, at least as long as the world lasts.
The first one is an amazing performance, and I get kind of giddy every time I hear it. They didn't have the editing tools back in those days for studio recording, so my guess is this is pretty much how it sounded.
The second song, I was listening to the other day, and it reminds me of MAGA, which even kind of pales the corruption in Brazil of those days.
I thought I would add the words to the second song. I heard them a few days ago, and it made me think of America, right now.
Forward with Crime
De Frente Pro Crime
There's the body lying on the floor
Instead of a face, a photo of a goal
Instead of prayer, someone wishes a plague on someone else
And a silence serving as an amen
The nearest bar quickly filled up
Criminals together with workers
A man climbed onto the bar table
And he made a speech for political office
The street vendor came to sell!
Ring, necklace, cheap perfume
Dark woman from Bahia to make
Pastry and a good cat barbecue
Four o'clock in the morning
The saint came down on the flag bearer
And the kids decided
Stop, and then
There's the body lying on the floor
Instead of a face, a photo of a goal
Instead of praying a curse on someone
And a silence serving as an amen
Without rushing, each one went their own way
Thinking about a woman or the team
I looked at the body on the floor
and closed My window facing the crime
