Senior night they will do all seniors regardless if they have eligibilty left. It's just something they do so if the player retires or what not they can be honored.

Since it's senior night I am wondering who can come back next year.
Blum has said the only 2 guys that for sure don't have eligibility next year are Gilbert and Chafield. Curtis Jones depends on court rulings with Juco eligibility, but I don't have much confidence he will get another yar. Rest of the seniors can return

Yeah I don't have confidence in the JUCO ruling either.

Jackson, Heise, can return.
Gilbert, Chatfield, and Hawley are playing their last home game tonight.
Cujo is in limbo due to JUCO status.

Have they said why CuJo might get another year? I dont understand it because he's played 4 non-covid seasons in the NCAA, 2 years at Buffalo & 2 years at ISU. His 1 year in juco didn't count by the NCAA anyways since it was during the covid year.

It’s an offseason conversation but since we’re basically in a salary cap era and it’s not just about scholarships, uncomfortable for some conversations will need to happen about Jackson. Hope he has a great end to the year though.

I hope we can afford to bring him back.

But that seems unlikely given the kind of offers a starting Big 12 center will garner

Yeaaaa. I was giving the impression we should do the opposite with a production VS potential cost, but a lot of season left.

Yeah, we’re saying the same thing

Put another way, 5 years ago it’s not even a question we want him back, while we’d also try to find someone with different skills to complement

But given everything now is based on getting the most production we can with our budget, I just hope we have the luxury to afford a guy like Jackson. An Arkansas or IU will pay a lot for even a backup big

Agree. Need a rim protector that can also rebound.
Agree to your agree. Jackson is not the rebounder we thought he was going to be and gets into foul trouble too easily. Hopefully there’s a guy in the portal that can give us that. We don’t need a big time scorer and just need someone to rebound and protect the paint.

It is clear we are lacking a pure athlete down low. Jefferson, Jackson, Chatfield, Milan, etc all below the rim players.
This is true. ISU biggest weakness is athleticism. They have played at their ceiling most of the year and opponents know if they can take away the guards and force ISU to either pass down low where we miss a lot of bunnies or take contested guard shots. Hats off to the guards who make a ton of great plays despite this.
