When Hayden Fry took over the program at Iowa they had not had a winning season for 20 years. Fry started with 2 losing seasons but he was building a program and turned the program around with a winning season his third year and went on to be successful at Iowa. The same thing can be done at ISU but it takes time to build a program.

Totally agree. I would be happier if what i was seeing was fundamental football. You can get blown off the ball and dominated. That's almost more acceptable at this point than all the presnap penalties. You don't need talented football players to know how to line up properly. Right now the disorganized things have me concerned

Give Matt a break, he is dealing with horrible recruits that Paul brought to ISU. To get back to a winning season you have to tear things completely and build them ground up, but while doing that you still have to play every season, you cant skip a season. So we are just watching the really ugly part of the tear down, next year it will definitely be better.

But otherwise, yes I agree with you. Much like Fred in bball, even though he springboarded his alma mater for an NBA gig, I would much rather have that situation than former head coaches being demoted to satellite dish salesman (or whatever Wayne Morgan ended up doing).

It's important to look at the big picture and have reasonable expectations for turning a program around. There are going to be some growing pains. Ferentz was 1-10 and 3-9 his first two seasons at Iowa. It takes time to get players into the program. Iowa State will get there. Give Coach Campbell some time.

Beating UNI was a reasonable expectation. Scoring ONE touchdown vs Iowa was a reasonable expectation. Miami OH scored THREE on Iowa last week.

I agree, there were definitely some coaching errors. But I also think it is hard to sell your ideology to recruits you did not bring in. He has recruited Iowa states best class till date, which should lead to atleast 6 wins next year and maybe a bowl win. We went against a top 15 team on the road, after losing to UNI

I'm perfectly fine with playing NW Delaware State 3 times before the Big 12 schedule. 3-0 is 3-0. Get these guys a taste of winning. 3 wins plus Kansas means 3 more wins to go bowling. No Cyclone fan would complain about our schedule on their way to watch the bowl game.

My only issue is the players do not look well coached. They look completely unprepared to play football.

History has shown that it's unlikely that Campbell will be as successful as KF or Snyder, but there's a first time for everything I guess.

Iowa and K-State weren't that much alike because Ferentz had a lot more recent football tradition to sell.

Our situation resembles K-State, and the odds of that are similar to hitting the lottery.

K-State didn't have a dominant in state p5 program to contend with. Wake me up when Oregon State turns into a consistent winner.

You can try to pretend Iowa doesn't have a good football program, but you're lying to yourself. Yes, they get the benefit of a pathetic schedule, but the fact is they beat teams like UNI, Purdue, etc, whereas we don't/wouldn't.

They go to really good bowl games most years, and from a recruiting standpoint they normally get who they want in state, making our recruiting that much harder.
