Well you are entitled to your opinion, but then again, it's a fact that both Ferentz at Iowa and Snyder at K-State were 1-10 in their first seasons and they both went on to turn those programs around. I believe Coach Campbell is capable of doing likewise at ISU.
Apples to Oranges
Ferentz took over an Iowa program which had about 2 decades of success prior to his arrival. We do not fall into that category. He had a year or two of bumps, but had the black and gold Tigerhawk logo on the side of the helmet which was a recognizable brand and a respected program. He took over for a Hall of Fame coach and there were about 3 years in which Iowa wasn't Iowa. To compare Ferentz and Campbell is absurd.
You are spot on with your Snyder comparison (as I think that is the one most of us look at and say "we can do that").
Other key coaches you could compare this situation to would be...
Rhoads
Chizik
McCarney
almost any ISU coach in history
Hayden Frye would be a much better comparison than Ferentz, as Frye actually built that program from next-to-nothing.
Howard Schnellenberger (sp?) at Miami(FL) in the late 70's early 80's. Terrible program that won national title in his 3rd, 4th, or 5th year...I can't remember.
Either way, if I have to hear Murphy compare Ferentz and Campbell one more time I'm going to rip my ears off. Keith Murphy should be smarter than to recite that line of crap...and so should you. Apples and oranges.
