When was the last time you wore a tie?

I own 8 but I used to have to wear a suit and tie everyday for work but that ended after Covid.

I loved wearing a suit and tie everyday. Now I sit at my desk wearing a company golf polo, jeans, and Cole Haans, so i can’t complains

I do think the dress code for most jobs have become a little too relaxed but also depends on the job.

What I can’t stand is how relaxed some wedding attire is at times. When I go to a wedding and 90% of the guests are wearing a combination of a suit/blazer no tie/at minimum decent dress shirt and slacks and there’s a handful of people wearing jeans, hey dudes, and a casual shirt it makes my skin crawl. Have a little respect for yourself and the people who invited you to their wedding.
I never understand the idea of work attire being too relaxed but I work in the tech world. My last internship in 2014 it was polo and khakis, fast forward a year when I came back to the same company full time and it was polo and jeans. Then a couple years later I could wear shorts and a t shirt to work. Now working from home I only throw a polo on if I'm interviewing someone. Even then I probably have athletic shorts or sweatpants on.

Weddings sure, respect the requested attire. But I've been to plenty of country weddings where jeans and a plaid button up with boots is dressed up. Went to a wedding with an ex from middle of nowhere SD years ago in Rapid City and I was way overdressed in dress shoes, slacks and a nice button up.

You might have felt conspicuous, but it showed that you guys all cared and appreciated him.
Not quite the same but sort of a friend got married out in Nebraska, big traditional Catholic wedding. Probably 7 to 10 of us Methodists in the back wedding goes along we are just along for the ride, get to the Lords Prayer, hey we can do this we jump right in, none of us knew the Catholics didn't say the last couple lines, we finished it for them (couldn't get stopped in time Oops)
Converted Methodist here. I have learned to not say the last part of the Lords Prayer (the Our Father as Catholics refer to it), but when I pray in my head I still say all of it even though I converted almost 20 years ago.

Not often. I WFH so I don't have a lot of opps to dress up. I will for my wife's company dinners/parties. Other than that its for weddings/funerals. I have plenty of family who under dress for weddings. I'd rather over dress. Really easy to remove a tie if needed.

Side bar I used to enjoy trinity knots just to do something different and have a different look. I don't think I could do one now off the top of my head.

Pretty frequently. I work at a firm in DC that is pretty old school. I actually like it. Also, living in DC I have really noticed in the last year or so that the attire is trending back to more business when I see people on the streets. A lot more suits and ties and less khakis with unbuttoned collared shirts. More people are back in the office (both Gov't and private sector) and it is trending more business attire than casual dress again. Starting to feel very pre-Covid here.

Last weekend at a wedding. Forgot the last time I wore one. Always have to be careful not to spill any gravy on it while eating.

Scroll to the bottom, they have all sorts of knots. Now I have to decide if I am going to try one of these on Sunday.

How many suits do people own? I literally don’t have one and haven’t for probably a decade.

One suit and like 10 sport coats. Gave away some sport coats already, need to thin it down more because I never have a situation to wear them as a retired dude. Same for a whole slew of dress shoes and like 40-50 ties.

I’ve been retired for four years and have worn a tie once in that time—to MIL’s funeral. There was a ten year time period in my career when I wore a suit every day. I probably had 30 suits at the end. I liked it. Grab the next suit in line and a white or blue shirt and a tie, no thought required in the morning. The first time I caught a plane wearing a suit I thought I was in a whole new world. Every airline employee called me sir and they went out of their way to make my experience better.
