After 30 years I'm out of ideas. As the saying goes, we both have everything we want or need. Our two girls are grown, on their own, and they'll get her several impactful gifts.
I need creativity. So out of desperation and possibly exposing the matter to rude and cruse ideas I'll open the discussion. And maybe some of you will get an idea out of it as well.
Technology, done. Jewelry, done a long time ago. Home help, done. Spa stuff, done. Clothes and winter warmy stuff, done. Sex toys, she has me.
Ready, set, go!

Is there a place that's meaningful for a getaway? I'm kind of with you, we've been married 26 years, and we dated 9 years prior to that. She's 51, I'm 50. After we married we had very limited resources so we honeymooned at a B&B in Baraboo, WI. So last fall for our 25th I surprised her with a long weekend back at that B&B and we have a bigger/grander getaway for next summer planned.

At this point, I think it's more about shared experiences together than it is about material things. But everyone's different.

We just agreed to go shopping after Christmas and buy each other things. Most things will be on sale as well. Double win.

Yes to shared. Totally agree. We do travel and could do more. Had an amazing getaway for our 30th.

I'll pull from my list. Silk pillowcase, winter sun light thing, paint by number paint kit, books, nice lotion like Dionis.....or maybe an all inclusive to a beach somewhere :D

When I was in a similar situation I would do concert tickets to a big name artist she enjoyed that would be too big to come to Iowa. So, tickets and a weekend in Chicago, Twin Cities, etc.

Like someone else said, a shared experience.

Edit: or maybe Dallas. I heard there's a great bar there.

Has she mentioned wanting to go to a certain city or country over the past year? Surprise her with tickets/hotel accommodations. Or Xmas morning have a little fun/game where you both have three pieces of paper. You secretly put three different cities/countries you want to visit...one on each piece of paper. The catch is: one has to be within 6 hours driving distance from your home, one is a flight in the continental U.S. or Canada, the third is overseas. Then you both fold the papers up and throw them in a bowl and take turns drawing pieces of paper out...and whatever the last piece of paper left/location is that's your next trip.

30 years? Give her a hall pass. She'll enjoy that the most.

Otherwise, tickets to a show on Broadway is always a success.

Yeah it's interesting because as I posted that I was thinking that I also play it very materialistic and practical as well. Wife is a voracious reader so I get her an Amazon gift card every Bday/Xmas. And she has been into scrapping our daughters' over the years so a few years ago I turned a spare bedroom into a dedicated scrapbooking room for her.

Lots of cool boutique hotels or Airbnb's. Pick a close by city or town and have a nice night out somewhere. Or some sort of show or musical or something if she likes those.

Varied reading. True crime murder podcast. She's a homebody. Off work and nest. No outdoor. Kitchen dominant but runs a kitchen store. Disco.
Does she have a restaurant she really wants to try. Maybe get a reservation there?
