We all know we have talent on the field on defense and offense as seen in the last 2 first halves. If Paul Rhoads is fired will any of the players leave with him. It is a sensitive issue for all the young players we have playing. I'm talking lazard Warren Joshua Thomas Peavy and don't forget Seth nerness any thoughts

I hope not, but this cannot really be a factor in making the decision on whether to keep him here or not.

Reason being... we already know that Rhoads can't win with this talent, not even against a bad team when we have a 21 point halftime lead. So.. if we keep him here, we know the outcome.... more losing and more 3 win seasons.

Therefore, you have to make a change and hope you can convince the players to stay, but keeping the current head coach is definitely not an option at this point.

guys, if we keep CPR, the talent will not only leave, it will stop coming. Not even bad players want to lose.

Emotion aside, and regardless of the player's allegiance, he's actually not helping them by leading them to defeat.

Doubt it. When we recruit we recruit to Iowa State. If the players love it here, they will stay. IMO, they are not here because of CPR necessarily.

If they do, can it be worse than the attrition that we've seen over the last few years.

How many seniors did we field this year?

I promise you no one on the team is here because they have a special relationship with Rhoads. Players are close with their position coaches more than anything. I haven't met a player in the past 3 years who said they or any of their teammates love Rhoads.

The excuses not to fire Rhoads keep coming fast and furious.

We can't fire him this year - too many football programs are firing their coach this year (never mind this happens EVERY year)
We can't fire him ever - all of our players will leave (Really? Who's going to leave?)
We can't fire him - the buyout is too big (After the last several weeks, how much revenue due to lost ticket sales is going to be lost by retaining him)
