What teams do you really want to win their first game? My list is below.

ISU
UNI
NIU
Boise State
Alabama

Obviously I don't have much love for the Big Ten!

I understand your question marks concerning Alabama, CC. It's not that I love the SEC, it's because my overbearing neighbor has made me hate the Big 10. I like it when he goes in hiding once the Hawks lose or the Big 10 fails - it's truly the only way he shuts the **** up!

fair enough... plus SEC losses don't count unless they're in october/november

Why wouldn't you want Iowa to win their first game to have a nice 1-0 matchup in week 2? Let go of the Little Brother Syndrome and think of the big picture, and what is best for ISU, just for once.

No Big Sister syndrome here- I'm old enough to have enjoyed a few stretches going our way (98-02 was the best). The little brother terminology is relatively new, fabricated by HN. I do ultimately want the best for ISU but with the strength of our schedule, it matters little what the Hawks do this year - we just need to win games. I've always rooted for the Hawks until I moved in next to my unbearable neighbor!

Kind of like this thread? (not sure if true, but I saw a thread eerily similar to this one over there a couple hours ago).

Anyway, I get the argument about them winning whenever they don't play us makes us look better. Makes sense, but like said above with our SOS, the hoks don't make much of a difference.

I also always want them to lose because of their arrogant fans. I think if they had just a couple losing seasons in a row, their fanbase would shrink. It'd be nice not having to deal with quite as many ignorant football "fans".

Its not 'little brother syndrome' to want your rival to lose every game. I dont fault an iowa fan that wants the reverse to happen either.

Also, fanbase-wise... if iowa were to fall to the depths that we went through, it would be great for ISU. Casual fans would swing to ISU over time because casual fans tend to follow the winning team in their area. So really, hoping Iowa does bad IS thinking about what's best for ISU. Its not like ISU needs the SOS bump from a good iowa team... it has plenty of SOS in the conference schedule.

Hope Iowa loses every game they ever play in every sport. Guess I have "little brother syndrome". Hope NIU kicks their butts in Chicago and then we welcome them home with a buttkicking too.

Should we root for Iowa to go 11-1 with their only loss to ISU? I don't remember that being all that great for ISU. Maybe 3-9, or 7-5, or 6-6? Please let us all know the Iowa record that is best for ISU so we can root accordingly. Because in my mind I can't see any scenario that would benefit ISU more than Iowa going 0-12 every year for the next decade.

If rooting against the squawks is "little brother syndrome" what do you call them rooting against us?

Also, what do you call rooting FOR them (outside the ISU game, of course), Stockholm Syndrome?
