Woodworkers Thread

Good Morning All.
I am downsizing my wood shop and selling some of my equipment. I want to give my Clone Friends first dibs. Below is what I have along with my phone number. send me a text if you are interested, or if you are looking for something I may have it for sale. I am still going through my stuff.

Just thought I’d share a little Mother’s Day project I threw together on Saturday. I had the kids write their names on a piece of painters tape, transferred it to the walnut, carved it in with a dremel, painted it and rubbed on some oil.

The guts are an 8x10 frame from dollar tree so it cost me a whopping 1.25, a stick of walnut and some time with a miter saw, router and sander. Cool way to score some points for the dads out there.

Hard to tell from the pic how long those joists are but those 2x4s are probably helping with lateral movement. If you take them out, add some blocking, especially if those are 10-12 footers. I think code is 8’ and longer needs blocking but someone else here can probably answer that better than I can.

This is correct, you want to take those out and replace with actual blocking between the joists. It’s going to make your deck much more solid.
