Has anyone done a working retreat in Iowa? We'd be looking for something that could accomodate 15ish people. During the days we'd want to be able to work, so reliable wifi and large common area would be necessary. During the evening we'd be looking for activities. We'd like to find somewhere not just a hotel.

We have a dispersed team, so we're trying to get everyone together to kick off a new software project as well as focus on some team building.

Our office is in Ames, so thats not much of a retreat :) I also should have mentioned we'd like to be offsite for 3 - 5 days

back when I worked in Cedar Rapids, we used to have off-site, team building exercises at the bar

Galena has a lot of what you are looking for. Huge variety of accomodations, activities during the day or night, as well as very business-centric as far as wifi, etc. 3 hour drive from Ames.

KC
Kansas City. Take in Top Golf, do an escape chamber, tour Boulevard Brewery, go to a sporting event (Royals, Sporting KC, T-bones). There are plenty of convention centers and places to take care of business needs as well.

There are many co-op shared work spaces in many cities. I know CR has one down near NewBo call the vault. I use it now and then to get out of the office.

Great wifi, kitchen and dining space. You can get a conference room, desks or offices. Pay by the day.

Easy to spend thenights at a downtown hotel, and walk over to the office.
