You may just convert me to a wrestling fan yet! Too bad it's not that big down here. Although whenever I get back to Ames I'll have to check out all the Cyclones sports that I've missed so much.

Yeah when can we see a Forum only for wrestling on this site??

It is tough to follow it out of state- The net is really the only way.

Aw nuts. I am loathe to say this, but I was kinda hoping that Kyle Anson would win his match. He's a good friend of mine from high school, and a damn good wrestler. But yeah, he's been struggling lately. Oh well, I guess I can't be too torn up about some points for the Cyclones, lol.

WOW! cyclone wrestling is really rolling. I did not expect this big of a spread in scoring... I guess it helps when you get some pins!

I love getting proven wrong! I knew Fanthorpe could stick with Anson, but certainly did not expect a pin! Awesome! I think everyone should be extremely proud of Grant Turner though. For not being the starter at the beginning of the season, he has wrestled well as of late. A close loss against Minnesota, and now his major against UNI? I'm extremely happy for him.

I watched part of the meet today and I really wish we would have been as focused as we were today when we were at EIU. The meet would have been a WHOLE different story. They really looked motivated today.

HWT: Zabriskie (ISU) by forfeit

A forfeit? I know this isn't uncommon at the high school ranks and I'll admit I don't pay close attention to college wrestling...

But a forfeit at the college level? How often does that happen? I know the meet was decided already - but still.

Was Rhodes for UNI hurt? If so, do they not have another heavyweight?

If we can't get "focused" for Iowa, then who can we get focused for?

I would guess the competition had something to do with it today.

Yes, the announcers talked about him with an injured knee, and they also talked about the fact that you don't have 3 or 4 heavyweight wrestlers on the team.
The match was over as far as the outcome was concerned.

I agree 100% on the focused for Iowa part. Its just that I didn't see much fire in their eyes at Iowa vs today. Even when our #1 Paulsen got beat by a redshirt freshman at that meet, Paulsen didn't even look upset????? I am sure he wasn't happy in the least but the emotion was not there

Obviously much better against UNI than against the Hawks. They just need to get that toughness and determination worked into them by Cael. Against Iowa, the momentum just carried it away. Iowa wrestled aggressively like the old Gable days. I'd love to see that from ISU.

In a situation where a wrestler's health is not 100 percent, and the dual can not be won, coaches will probably elect to forfeit the match half the time. Coaches might also do it to protect the record of a wrestler.
