A pair of Iowa State’s youngsters picked up national honors on Tuesday when The Athletic released its Freshman All-American team.

Safety Isheem Young and offensive guard Darrell Simmons were each featured on the publication’s second-team. The Cyclones have now had five freshman All-Americans in the last three seasons as Young and Simmons join teammates Mike Rose (2018), Breece Hall and Trevor Downing (2019).

Young, the Big 12’s co-defensive freshman of the year, has recorded 46 tackles this season, which is good for fourth on the team, while adding two tackles for loss, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles and an interception that sealed the program’s first win over...

The offensive line next year should be the best we have ever had at ISU and it shouldn't be close. LT is the only position that needs filled.

Isheem Young might be my favorite player on our team. The guys story is incredible, got into some bad situations and truly came back and made the most of himself. Huge playmaker for the clones and look to him adding a regular all American tag to his resume.

Wow, we have six guys and it's going to be really tough to decide who doesn't start. Not a big believer in rotating OL but this may be a special circumstance.

Young is the player I would least like to be hit by. That dude blows people up and you can see it's affect on the opposing team in the 2nd half as running backs and receivers are much less interested in getting to the secondary.

Don't worry about that, the likelihood that Iowa State only use 5 lineman in a year has to be close to hitting the lottery.

FIFY. I know every year teams make it through the whole season without a single injury, but ISU is definitely not one of those teams. CPR used to lose 2-3 starters in spring practice.
