Klieman is very close to K-State's athletics director, Gene Taylor, who promoted him to head coach at NDSU and then brought him to K-State. I can't see him leaving Taylor - they are like brothers. And money has never been a problem in Manhattan.

Barta and Kirk out, Taylor and Klieman to Iowa confirmed.

I could almost see Brain leaving for a "better job" elsewhere. Maybe a HC at a lower tier? A way to save face by making it seem like a promotion.

The premise of the OP is flawed. Barta is AD in name only when it comes to the football program. Barta isn't telling anyone to do anything.

Kirk will hand select his replacement. It is supposed to be Brian, but that ship is not going well and may never float. So, Kirk will stay as a figure-head coach until he can't walk the sidelines anymore or things turn around for Brian.

If Kirk wants Brian as his replacement, he will have no problem giving the job to Brian while giving the middle finger to the fanbase.

People said Bill Snyder would do that for his son, Sean. Didn't happen. Football is bigger even than legends.

K-State had an AD change though. As long as Barta is AD, I don't see it happening unless the donors step in. Kirk has the donors wrapped around his finger.

Would not have mattered. The former AD, John Currie, would not have hired Sean. These coaches, even legends like Bob Knight, believe they have more power than the institution until it comes time to cull the heard.
